Bill Nighy (Love Actually, Underworld) has just been added to the roster for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Who will he play?
It’s not official, but rumors are speculating that he will be Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour. In an interview he said, “I don’t think I’m allowed to say it but I’m going to be in the next Harry Potter film. I won’t say which character, but he’s a goodie. I just got the gig.”
In the Harry Potter world, Rufus Scrimgeour eventually becomes the Minister of Magic succeeding Cornelius Fudge (starting after Half-Blood Prince). Before being selected as minister, Scrimgeour headed the Auror Office of the Ministry and he is heavily battle-scarred from his years of service as an Auror, giving him an appear
ance of shrewd toughness. I think Bill Nighy will fit in seamlessly. It seems like the cast of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is adding to the list every week. It feels like most every well known British actor seems to want a part of this epic saga.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is filming now in Wales, so we could possibly see shots of Nighy in action very soon. Here is a shot of a house built out of shells for the movie, The Deathly Hallows.
