Flash Forward Premiere *spoilers*

flashforwardTonight was the premiere of the new ABC show, Flash Forward. The gist of it is, the entire world blacks out for about two minutes and after they wake up, they begin to realize what they were seeing while they were all blacked out was of the same moment six months in the future. So, something major will happen again in the world on April 29th, 2010 at 10pm East Coast time. The characters spent a good portion of the show describing their flash forwards and giving us an idea of the future. The main character of the show is Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes). He is an FBI agent and his flash forward shows him working on this case of the black out and so far we know that he is a recovering alcoholic and his black out has him drinking again. There wasn’t much time for character development, but I feel that the show will focus on a few characters each episode and let us get to know them.

OK, my thoughts, At first, I was really only seeing things that were shown in the previews, like the black out itself and the crashes and fires and accidents due to this. So, my thoughts were just ehh, ok, looks cool, but what is going to make me tune in every week? Then the last minute of the show pulled me right back in! One of the members of the team working on project Mosaic was watching surveillance videos from around the world trying to piece together the black out itself and as she watched every person pass out in the Detroit football stadium, one man did not pass out! One man, dressed in all black with a skull cap and very mysterious looking spent a moment looking around almost to make sure that no one saw him and then walked out of the stadium.

flashforward22Oooh, we have our mystery guy and I’m guessing this is the D. Gibbons on the card mentioned in Mark’s flash forward. I can pretty much tell that I am going to love this show, because like LOST, it will jump all around and try to confuse us and there will be a million clues to piece together. There are already some things that seem pretty obvious that I feel confident in stating, such as: Mark’s wife, Olivia (Sonya Walger) had a vision of herself with another man which she did not know. I am pretty sure that the pressure of the Mosaic case will drive Mark to start drinking and will cause Olivia to leave him. The man she is with is the father of a child she saved in the hospital today, she will most likely bond with him over something intimate.

The preview for what is to come on the show showed a lot of things, and one of the things that I am most excited about is that Dominic Monaghan (LOST) being on the show and being a person that has information of the black out. There were a lot of things flashed at me and I almost need to watch it again. I will be tuning in next week and let you know what I thought about it.

I give the premiere 3 “somebody saved Charlie” out of 5.
