This is more of a casual review of the film than a regular Lost in Reviews movie review. John and I didn’t try to pick apart the film and just went on what we felt from the experience. I hope you enjoy this review, I found it more informative than listening to us pick apart the movie pointing out small mistakes and explaining why “Couples Retreat” is not high art.
We went in with the understanding that this movie knows what it is, and that it’s a fun ride for anyone that enjoys the genre. Enjoy The review!

Usually when we think of Clive Owen, we think of assassins, sleazy cops, and spies. His masculinity and powerful charisma usually draws us in to endear a criminal or tough guy, so his role as Joe Warr in The Boys are Back comes as a shock — but a welcomed one. Though the character’s name sounds like it would fit right into one of Owen’s previous movies, Joe turns out to be nothing more than an ordinary man trying to deal with ordinary problems. Owen’s likability is cranked up — not because...

She Wants Revenge is the only band I know that can bring together Spiderman, pregnancy tests, and glowing guitars in a dark, sweaty venue. Sounds crazy you say? Believe me, it surprised me too. Add to those some rockin’ dance beats, a dash of alcohol, and an interview with Adam Bravin (see at the end of the review), and you have one hell of a show in an unsuspecting setting.
When I got to The Bottleneck in Lawrence, KS, I had some doubts about the location for this show. Being an Eastern Jackson County Missouri...

A lot of people have been waiting to see this movie for a long time, such a long time that I never thought it would see the light of day. My next thought was this movie has to be really bad to have been shelved for so long, it’s a horror movie for one and Hollywood does love its horror. The reason being that it’s cheap and if you follow the formula it’s hard not to make money off a horror flick, just look at “The Final Destination.” So needless to say I went into this one with mixed emotions.
“Trick...

The newest episode of Dexter, Remains to be Seen, is keeping in the tradition of last week’s episode….It keeps dragging on and on until the very end! They know you’re hooked on the story lines, so they’re not in a rush to move things along too quickly. Don’t worry, this episode has plenty of fun little bits to keep you chewing on until next Sunday.
The show starts with our favorite killer waking up from a devastating car wreck and being loaded into an ambulance. Thankfully, no one decided to check...

This week we delve deeper into the stories we were introduced to in the premiere. Mark and Olivia are starting to argue a bit about her vision of being with another man, who she meets in the hospital. Lloyd Simcoe (Jack Devenport) is the father of one of the patients she took care of after the black out. The child knew her name and her daughter knows the little boy from her vision. Charlie is being very secretive about what she saw, which means it must have been bad. Demetri is still freaking out about his fate and the fear is...

Lost In Reviews restrained a zombie to share a few thoughts during the Zombieland zombie walk. The walk, which was supposed to have taken place crossing through the Power and Light District, where even the walking undead are denied access for not meeting the stringent dress code; was a cross promotion for the bloody, gory, fun Zombieland, which opened Friday in theaters, and the Kansas City Zombie walk which takes place Saturday October 10.
The Kansas City zombie walk of which there were two this year, is open to any one willing...

Capitalism is a refresher course of what we have been through for the last year or so and how it possibly all began, and it wasn’t with Dick Cheney. Being a fan of Michael Moore’s work, I was excited to see his newest challenge, the economy. This is big, much bigger than the health care issue covered in “Sicko.” Some of these issues span the globe and the roots go far beyond where we thought they were planted.
Without giving too much away from the discoveries in the film, and staying off my soap box as...

Zombieland has the shortest cast list I have seen in a feature length film in a long while. It actually reminds me of the film itself. It’s focused, knows what it is, and it’s a darn fun bloody ride that doesn’t overstay its welcome. The title of the film pretty much tells you what you are in for. The world has been over run by zombies. Sure, there are stories that you hear out west that there are no zombies on the east and vice versa. Truth is zombies are everywhere. These are more of the 2004 Dawn of the Dead...

What does it take to be a Hurl Scout? A need for speed, a love for bruises and a bit of a punk rock attitude.
Whip It is the story of Bliss (Ellen Page), a young girl from Bodeen Texas, who finds it hard to blend in with her love of Indie Rock music, her dark hair and pale skin. She is surviving with her best friend Pash (Alia Shawkat) along her side to laugh at all of the nonsense of the town. She discovers a roller derby league in the town of Austin when out shopping with her mom and decides to make the trip every week to be...

I won’t waste time going over the plot of the beloved two Toy Story films that Disney & Pixar have updated to Disney Digital 3D and paired together as a double feature in theaters this weekend. I imagine most attending this two week limited double feature engagement are already familiar with the source material. The first feature length Pixar film and it’s follow up that was originally intended for DVD that ultimately was made feature length.
The biggest question surrounding this double bill is ‘how does...

The invention of Lying is the new romantic comedy from the creator of the original BBC series, The Office, Ricky Gervais. It uses a rather simple idea, a world where no one has ever told a lie. In this world every one is brutally up front and honest about everything. From realizing at their dates appearance how the evening will go, before even getting a chance to start, and what they were doing, with shocking detail, before they answered the door. I had high hopes that the film would steer clear of the common romantic comedy...
