Chuck’s a what?!?!

Well I am either about to embark on a great viewing adventure or will spend the next 19 episodes begging for someone to gauge my eyes out with a spoon.  I wanted to start my first Chuck posting a little differently for one simple reason (don’t worry recaps will begin with the next new episode), I have no idea what this show is about.  No I mean it.  In the past 2 seasons I have seen a total of 4 episodes.  So when I say that I have no idea what is going on, I really have no idea.  From the little I have been able to gather, Chuck Bartowski, a computer expert who from the look of things would have been able to do a lot more with his life, has decided that working for the local Buy More is the place where he belongs along with his fellow Nerd Herd and best friend Morgan (who I am crushing on by the way).  Ah enter his old college buddy Bryce Larkin a top secret spy who has possession of, well I really don’t know what the hell it is, but apparently they call it the Intersect.  Which is this major computer program that gets downloaded into our star’s brain and turns him into an asset or liability depending on whether you ask John Casey, a hard ass NSA agent or sultry CIA agent Sarah Walker.

Yeah I know it all seemed a little to WTF for me too.  When I watched the first couple of episodes I didn’t have a problem with the show and I thought it was ok, but there were just so many other things on that kept my interest a lot more than this show did.  So I never actually bothered to keep up with what was going on.  I could not tell you anything about the first or second season if you dangled a million dollars in front of my face.  Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t because I didn’t like the show.  I liked it just fine, but I didn’t like it enough to care about whether I saw it or not.  Eventually it went from every so often to not at all.  Now I would like to tell you that I used this time to watch another kick ass show, but to be honest other than How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory I can not actually remember what I was watching.  Guess I picked wrong.  Oh well at least now I have an excuse to go out and buy Seasons 1 & 2.  So that’s a plus.  I mean I figure if I am going to start recapping/reviewing the show I should have some clue as to what the hell is going on with it.

So here is what I have gathered so far from the little bit of information I have managed to retain over the past 2 years and from the 2 episodes I watched last night:

Chuck is now in training to be a spy because he was downloaded with the Intersect 2.0 (yeah I’m beginning to think that getting those first 2 seasons is a definite must)

Chuck & Sarah are in love, but Chuck chose being a spy over her (oh damn another will they or won’t they storyline, I really do not like those)

Morgan, Chuck’s best friend for reasons I have not yet been made aware of, spends his time trying to be the top of Nerd Herd.  The little cutie.

John Casey seems to spend most of his time either begrudgingly protecting Chuck or waiting to inflict pain on whatever Baddie of the Week has been cast.  I am hoping that somewhere in the first 2 seasons he has a storyline in there somewhere.  Because from what I have seen it is the Chuck & Sarah show and not much else.

**Before you go and get the pitchforks I would like to remind you that I have not actually seen much of this show and these are merely first impressions and are subject to change. **

Oh yeah and Chuck has a sister who he lived with for 2 seasons, who is now either living somewhere else with Captain Awesome or married to the guy.  I honestly do not know which.  I also haven’t figured out if she or the Captain have an actual purpose on this show or what.  But I honestly couldn’t care less.  Sometimes too many main characters spoil the essence of the show.  Keep it simple I say.

So there you have it my first official Chuck post.  Hopefully you will join me for future episodes and if not I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
