The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and Breaking Dawn News 3/23/10

We should really change the name of this site to Lost in Twilight and Other Movies.  I kid, I kid.  Are you getting tired of my Twilight posts?  I am sure they will not end anytime soon since the next movie comes out in about three months.  🙂

Today, the theatrical one-sheet poster for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse debuted.  I must say that the poster is so much better than the New Moon poster.  Robert Pattinson looks a little different on this one.  Maybe because his hair is not so poofy and you don’t get to see all his body hair exposed.  The tag line “It all begins . . . with a choice” is misleading because if you have seen New Moon, you know Bella already decided.  Of course, Jacob is not giving up on trying to woo her or save her life.  We also learn from this poster that Howard Shore is doing the score and Billy Burke and Bryce Dallas Howard have made it to the poster billing along with the obvious trio and Dakota Fanning.  Good job, Billy Burke!

As far as Breaking Dawn goes, apparently they will start filming in the fall.  There has been no official word from Summit on whether the final book will be split into two movies or kept as one.  The way the actors have been talking, it looks like it will be two movies with a six month shooting schedule.  The director has not been pinned down yet.  Chris Weitz is out, unfortunately, after committing to another film.  There have been three names mentioned in the news lately and it all goes with Summit trying to bring in some Academy Award class.  Those directors would be Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation), Gus Van Sant (Milk), and Bill Condon (Dreamgirls).  The experience with or ability to do any CGI or special effects is lacking  in all three directors.  This is troubling because if you have read Breaking Dawn, then you know this is important.  New Moon was heavy on CGI and Chris Weitz had the experience from The Golden Compass.  Ugh!

Until next time . . .
