Twitter was all a flutter yesterday with the news spreading fast that Eclipse needed re-shoots. Panic set in amongst the Twihards; I was worried myself. Re-shoots less than three months before the movie is out in theatres is not a good sign. Adding fuel to the fire was the rumor that Chris Weitz or Catherine Hardwicke were going to be directing the re-shoots. Combine that with the fact that Robert Pattinson is scheduled for pre-production work for Water for Elephants already, and HOLY CRAP, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?! Lainey Gossip posted the first article on this Wednesday morning containing some rumored details, such as 18 hour work days for three days. The logistics of doing a re-shoot so soon before the theatrical release and so long after the movie wrapped is mind boggling. Summit finally released some sort of statement on the rumors stating that the re-shoots were planned a while ago, David Slade is directing them, and very little needs to be re-shot. I don’t know about you, but this all sounds fishy. A few weeks back, Summit fired David Slade’s editor for whatever reason, but probably because the big wigs did not like the first cut of the movie. Summit supposedly brought in the editor from Twilight. Ugh! Earlier today David Slade tweeted “In London overseeing the film score with Mr. Howard Shore and enjoying all the gossip flying around. Onwards to the Eclipse!!” I would really like to know how David Slade is enjoying this process.
On the Breaking Dawn front, rumor is that Bill Condon (Dreamgirls, Kinsey) is the front runner for the director position. He is supposedly in final talks to take the helm of the adaptation of the last book. I am still having an issue hiring a director that has done no or very little CGI or stunt work for this movie. There is still no official word on whether Breaking Dawn will be one or two movies, but everyone at this point is assuming that it will be two movies.
Stay tuned . . .
