Lost in Previews: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest

The US trailer for the original Swedish movie The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest has just come online, and I am happy to see that they continued the theme from the trailer for the first movie through to the trailer for the third movie.  I have yet to read this book, so I don’t really want to watch this trailer too much or dissect it.

The movie is directed by Daniel Alfredson and stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Nyqvist, Lena Endre, Annika Hallin, and Anders Ahlbom.  The official synopsis:

In THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNETS’ NEST – the final installment of the “Millenium Trilogy” – Lisbeth Salander is fighting for her life in more ways than one. In intensive care and charged with three murders, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those corrupt government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life. Once upon a time, she was a victim. Now Salander is fighting back.

I am including some stills from the movie that were provided to us.  You can click on each still for the larger, more detailed version.

There has been buzz that Noomi Rapace may garner an Academy Award Nomination for her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander, and I hope she gets it.  Noomi will also be seen in her first big US film, Sherlock Holmes 2, along with Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law, which I believe has yet to start filming.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest is in theatres October 29, 2010.  The Girl Who Played With Fire is on DVD October 26, 2010.
