Lost in Previews: Restless

Restless is the next movie by director Gus Van Sant who was nominated for a director Oscar for Milk and Good Will Hunting.  The movie is about a funeral-crashing boy and a sick girl who fall in love, but there is a supernatural element thrown in the mix.  It stars Mia Wasikowska and Henry Hopper (Dennis Hopper’s son) and costars Sissy Spacek’s daughter, Schulyer Fisk.  This is the first movie for screenwriter Jason Lew.  This must be the role Mia cut her hair for.  I really like the trailer and the song that is used toward the end.  The song is “I’m With You” by The Stills.  I think this trailer gives away a little too much, but I still like it.  Synopsis:

From Imagine Entertainment comes a powerful and emotional coming of age story, a remarkable film told with honesty and originality that will leave audiences moved. In the film, two outsiders, both shaped by the circumstances that have brought them together, forge a deep and lasting love. Directed by Gus Van Sant, one of the most astute observers of people living life on the edge, comes a take on friendship and young love as engaging and true as it is provocative and stirring. The screenplay is by Jason Lew.

Restless is in theatres January 28, 2011.
