The Three Musketeers is a movie that I knew was being made, but is this something people that people are really excited for? I personally liked the 1993 version. Oliver Platt was the best part. Then you have The Man in the Iron Mask which also had the Three Musketeers in it, although aged ones. Now comes this reboot (it really is a reboot, not a remake, as I have been burned for the difference in another trailer post). It is shot in 3D, so we can hope that it will be a good 3D experience. This, however, is one movie that most certainly does not need to be in 3D. Paul W.S. Anderson directs this version, and, of course, it has Milla Jovovich in it. The trailer is a “teaser,” but has glaring similarities to the action scenes in the trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife. The one saving grace of this movie is that Andrew Davies wrote the screenplay. Davies has written some of the best English mini-series and movies of all time. I don’t know how he got mixed up in this 3D, action-filled movie. Oh, and Matthew MacFayden doesn’t hurt either. . .
The hot-headed young D’Artagnan (Logan Lerman) joins forces with three rogue Musketeers (Matthew MacFadyen, Luke Evans and Ray Stevenson) in this reboot of Alexandre Dumas’ story. They must stop the evil Richlieu (Christoph Waltz) and face off with Buckingham (Orlando Bloom) and the treacherous Milady (Milla Jovovich). The action adventure is given a state of the art update in 3-D.
The Three Musketeers is in theatres October 14, 2011.
