Lost in Previews: Rebirth

The ten year anniversary of 9/11 is upon us.  Can you believe it has been ten years?  It was one of those horrific events that you will remember where you were and what you were doing when it happened.  There have been countless films and documentaries on 9/11.  Rebirth is a bit different.  It is a documentary that looks at the lives of five people affected by 9/11 through close to ten years after it happened.  It also gives us a glimpse of what has happened to the site of the Twin Towers since 9/11 through time-lapse cameras.  It looks to be powerful film through varying perspectives of its subjects.

“REBIRTH is a riveting journey into living history – an act of personal witness to one of the most profound events in American history and the healing that has come in its wake. The result of a decade-long process by director Jim Whitaker, the inspirational story of REBIRTH follows the nearly ten-year transformation of five people whose lives were forever altered on September 11, 2001 – and simultaneously tracks via unprecedented multi-camera time-lapse photography the minute-by-minute evolution of the space where the Twin Towers once rose. Both a singular cinematic and human experience, REBIRTH is deeply intimate and uplifting – providing a moving portrait of how trauma and grief metamorphose into hope and rebuilding as the human spirit transcends the unthinkable over time.”

Rebirth is in theatres in Los Angeles on August 26 and in New York on August 3, 2011.  Showtime is showing Rebirth on September 11, 2011.  Add this one to your Netflix queue.
