Local Bands Invade Kanrocksas

08.02.2011– Kansas City, Kan. – Kanrocksas Music Festival will include local bands and deejays as part of the large-scale two-day music event. Local musicians and deejays were chosen from a competition at Wild Bill’s Local Music Showcase. Kanrocksas Music Festival announces the overall local band and deejay winners to perform at the music festival, along with the other winning finalists that will perform on the Campground Stage presented by The Pitch, 103.7 The Dam and 95.7 The Vibe radio stations at the Kansas Speedway® on August 5 – 6, with the set times. In addition to the Campground Stage, Ink magazine presents Ink Unplugged, an acoustic stage located in the VIP area with artists playing live music both days of the festival.

The two winners will kick off Kanrocksas Music Festival presented by Samsung with Sprint at the beginning of Saturday, August 6 on the Main Stage with performances by Hearts of Darkness, the local band winner that will take the stage and DJ Soap, the local deejay winner spinning at the Critical Mass Tent.

Local Band Winner:
The Hearts of Darkness will perform at Kanrocksas Music Festival on Saturday, August 6 from 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. at Stagesaurus Rex. The Hearts of Darkness is a Kansas City band that plays a mix of unique afrobeat and progressive music and is considered the heartland’s biggest Afrobeat band. With upbeat performances and songs to dance to, The Hearts of Darkness will kick off the second day of performances at the major music event as the overall winner of Wild Bill’s Local Music Showcase for Kanrocksas.

Local Deejay Winner:
DJ Soap is the local deejay winner announced by Wild Bill’s Local Music Showcase for Kanrocksas Music Festival and will take over the Critical Mass Tent on Saturday, August 6 from 4:00 – 4:40 p.m. DJ Soap, considered a “modern day renaissance man” spins a mix of trendsetting sounds with a funky vibe that is well-recognized in the Midwest area and has been personally requested by several celebrities, radio stations and artists.

The other winning finalists of the Wild Bill’s Local Music Showcase for Kanrocksas Music Festival will perform on the Campground Stage located in the designated camping area near the main entrance of the Kansas Speedway® throughout the two-day event. The full set schedule for the Campground Stage bands include, The Beautiful Bodies, The Dead Girls, Head Change, and The The Grisly Hand and deejay performances by DJ Hi Eye Q, DJ Malaka, DJ Kittie, and DJ Cynsere.

General Admission Tickets: General admission tickets are currently offered as one- or two-day passes. Both options include free camping and parking. Two-day passes are $179.00. Single-day passes are $99.00.

VIP TICKETS – A limited number of VIP tickets are available for the Kanrocksas Music Festival to maintain a high-level experience from arrival through the entire two-days of entertainment. VIP tickets are for the entire two days of the festival for $359.00.

Admission to Festival Parking Lots and Campgrounds
Entrance to Kanrocksas Music Festival begins at 8:00 a.m. at the main gate (Gate B) at Talladega Blvd at the Kansas Speedway. All attendee’s are required to have and wear a wristband prior to entering the facility, which can be picked up on location.

All festival attendees wearing the required Kanrocksas admission wristband will immediately be directed to the parking lot or campsite. Wristbands are available to be picked up prior to the festival at the Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone State Av. Box Office on Wednesday, August 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Thursday, August 4 from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Campground Information
Tent camping and parking is free to guests and allows access of passenger cars, trucks and SUV’s, with parking based on a first-come-first-served basis. On site RV and recreational parking is also available for no cost. Day parking allows attendees to enter and leave with access on Talladega Speedway until 4:00 a.m.
