10. Trash Compactor of Death

Episode IV: A New Hope

After rescuing Princess Leia  the rebel heros fall into a giant galactic garbage compactor  and  soon find the walls are closing in on them  Luckily R2-D2 overrides the system and finds a way to save them from certain death.

9. Pod Race

Episode I: The Phantom Menace

 

The pod race on Tatooine is most dangerous race in the entire galaxy, and also boasts an epic display of effects. Anakin defeats rival Sebulba, who cheats during the race. With the help of the force, Anakin is able to pull ahead at the last minute, winning his freedom through Qui-Gon Jinn’s bet that was made before the race with Watto, Anakin’s “owner”.

 

8.Yoda vs. Count Dooku

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones

Yoda is without a doubt beloved by all, and the series pays homage to him in the fan- favorite scene in which he battles Count Dooku, who attempted to escape after knocking Obi-Wan unconscious and lobbing off Anakin Skywalker’s hand.

7. The Battle for Hoth

Episode V: Empire Strikes Back

A great battle scene in which the AT-ATs attack Luke Skywalker and the rebel forces who fend them off the Empire with their Star Fighters. Although they fought mightily, the rebels abandon Hoth in the end.

 

6. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn vs. Darth Maul

 Episode I: The Phantom Menace

Out of all of the Dark Sith Lords, Darth Maul was without a doubt the coolest of the cool. He even got away with wearing makeup! His token trick of the trade, a double-edged light saber, was used to take on Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan. Ultimately the Jedi defeat Darth Maul making the galaxy safe until Episode II.

 

5. Darth Vader vs. Obi- Wan Round 2

Episode IV: A New Hope

In this intense and final battle between master and Padawan, Darth Vader kills Obi-Wan in front of Luke Skywalker at the end of the episode in the ultimate portrayal of sacrifice – allowing Luke, Leah and Han Solo to escape the Death Star and return to safety.

4. Luke and the Setting Suns

Episode IV: A New Hope

 

The above image represents by far one of the most inspiring scenes of the series. Enhanced by the stirring music written by composer John Williams, Luke gazes towards the suns on the Tatooine horizon, searching for answers to all of his questions.

 

3. Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader/Sith Lord

Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

 

Every fan remembers the final battle scene where Luke finally defeats Darth Vader and the Sith Lord – ultimately ending the war and dissolving the evil Republic. The Jedi order is officially restored ushering in a new era of peace in the galaxy.

2. The Destruction of Death Star One

Episode IV: A New Hope

 

One of the most memorable scenes of the Saga is this legendary space fight on the Death Star. Luke Skywalker makes that impossible shot and blow ups the Death Star after fighting off TIE Fighters and Darth Vader. Luke uses the Force for the first time to pull off this miraculous feat and deal a major blow to the Galactic Republic.

Without a doubt, this is number one on our moments list as it boasts the most memorable line in the entire Saga. After being betrayed by Lando Calrissian in Cloud City, Luke faces Vader – who attempts to bring Luke to the dark side consequently cutting off Luke’s arm with his lightsaber. Luke clings to life as Darth Vader delivers arguably one of the most famous cinematic lines of all time.
