Lost in Previews: My Week With Marilyn

I was not expecting much from the film My Week With Marilyn.  Yet another actress trying to portray Marilyn Monroe.  The power of a fantastic trailer is very evident in this case because it makes this film look damn good.  Michelle Williams looks positively amazing both in looks and in acting like Marilyn.  If the trailer is any indication of what the film is like, then there may be an Oscar nom in there for Michelle.  The film also stars Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, Derek Jacobi, Julia Ormond, Dougray Scott, Dominic Cooper, Toby Jones, and Emma Watson.  The film is based on a true story.

“Colin Clark met Marilyn Monroe while working as a young assistant on Laurence Olivier’s “The Prince and the Showgirl.” When Marilyn experienced emotional difficulties during shooting, the 23-year-old third assistant director came to her aid and romance developed. But one week of honesty and fun was not enough to save the doomed star from self-destruction.”

My Week With Marilyn is in theatres November 4, 2011.
