We Need to Talk About Kevin looks like an intense, utterly chilling film. The film is based on a novel of the same name by Lionel Shriver. It appears that it is a film about a mother and son who never bonded, and the kid appears to grow up with some evil feelings about his mother. The trailer is fantastic and does a great job of conveying the feel of the film. The use of Buddy Holly’s “Everyday” is a great choice. The film only has three main cast members: Tilda Swinton, John C. Reilly, and Ezra Miller. Check the trailer out and see if you are as excited to see this as I am.
“A suspenseful and gripping psychological thriller, Lynne Ramsay’s WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN explores the factious relationship between a mother and her evil son. Tilda Swinton, in a bracing, tour-de-force performance, plays the mother, Eva, as she contends for 15 years with the increasing malevolence of her first-born child, Kevin (Ezra Miller). Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN explores nature vs. nurture on a whole new level as Eva’s own culpability is measured against Kevin’s innate evilness. Ramsay’s masterful storytelling simultaneously combines a provocative moral ambiguity with a satisfying and compelling narrative, which builds to a chilling, unforgettable climax.”
We Need to Talk About Kevin is in limited release on December 9, 2011. It has a wide release scheduled for February 2012.
