Booster will have its world premiere at SXSW Film Festival 2012. A brother gets arrested for armed robbery and still has a debt to be paid. The other brother has to rob to collect the money for the debt. Matt Ruskin wrote and directed the film, and it is set and filmed in his hometown of Boston. He cast two childhood friends and non-actors as the two male leads in the film. I am excited to see this one at SXSW. You fan also contribute to a Kickstarter campaign for the film to help with costs as the cast and crew get the film ready to show at SXSW.
“When Simon’s (NICO STONE) brother is arrested for armed robbery, he is asked to commit a string of similar crimes in an attempt to get his brother acquitted. Caught between loyalty to his brother and his own will, Simon is forced to examine his life.
Set in Boston’s criminal underworld, BOOSTER distinguishes itself with its honest portrayal of the hardships associated with a marginalized life. Director Matt Ruskin cast non-actors who were familiar with this environment to add a layer of authenticity and relevance to the film.
BOOSTER is a 2011 Independent Filmmaker Lab participant and is written and directed by Matt Ruskin. The cast includes Nico Stone, Adam Du Paul, Kristin Dougherty, and veteran actor Seymour Cassel. The film is produced by Andrea Roa and Ruskin. Executive Producer is Troy Johanson. Tim Gillis is the Cinematographer and Farley Crawford is production designer. Original music is by Alex Lasarenko and editing is by Matt Ruskin.”
Booster will be screening at SXSW on March 12, 13, and 15, 2012.
