Lost in Previews: Natural Selection

This is the trailer for Natural Selection which won a ton of awards at SXSW 2011.  I was able to see it at SXSW last year, and as I pointed out in my review, I did not see it until after it won the awards.  The poster for the film was a little creepy in a redneck-like way.  Needless to say the cast put on a great performance, but was mostly focused on the two main characters.  The cast includes Rachael Harris, Matt O’Leary, John Diehl, and John Gries and is directed by Robbie Pickering.  The trailer does represent the film well, pointing out the serious and funny moments of the film.

“Linda White (Rachael Harris), a devoted Christian housewife, leads a sheltered existence in suburban Texas. Her world is turned upside-down when she discovers that her dying husband, Abe, has a 23-year old illegitimate son named Raymond (Matt O’Leary) living in Florida. Somewhere on the edge of guilt and loneliness, Linda grants Abe’s final wish and sets off on a quixotic journey to find Raymond and bring him back. Along the way, Linda’s wonderfully bizarre relationship with Raymond will teach her more about herself than she ever imagined possible and force her to come to terms with her troubled past.”

Natural Selection starts playing in NYC on March 16, 2012 with a wider expansion to follow.
