New Poster and Stills for “On the Road”

The first poster for On the Road debuted on the official Facebook page for the film.  The page also released some new photos/stills of the film that have not been seen before.  On the Road is a film based on the novel of the same name by Jack Kerouac.  Walter Salles directed and Jose Rivera wrote the screenplay.  The film stars Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Amy Adams, Viggo Mortensen, Tom Sturridge, Alice Braga, Elizabeth Moss, Danny Morgan, and Marie-Ginette Guay.  How can you not be excited to see this film with all of these actors in it?

“Jack Kerouac’s landmark novel, “On the Road”, beloved by millions around the world for over fifty years, has finally been adapted for the screen. Directed by acclaimed international filmmaker Walter Salles (THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES, CENTRAL STATION) has brought together a world class cast and crew in a film that feels contemporary while remaining faithful to Kerouac’s iconic text.

After the death of his father, Sal Paradise, an aspiring New York writer, meets Dean Moriarty, a wild and infectiously charismatic ex-con. They hit it off immediately. Determined to avoid the pitfalls of a narrow, prescribed life, Sal hits the road, joining Dean on what evolves into a life-changing physical and emotional odyssey. Thirsting for freedom, they discover the world, the ecstasy of experience, the connectedness of humanity and ultimately themselves.”

On the Road does not have a US release date yet, but it starts opening in Europe as early as May 2012.  I had hoped in vain that maybe it would be at SXSW this year.
