Lost in Previews: On the Road

I have waited to see this trailer for On the Road for what seems to be a long time.  I am not let down, as the trailer touches on the story as well as showing its great ensemble cast.  Sam Riley and Garrett Hedlund are what the trailer focuses on with Kristen Stewart appearances as well (but no talking).  Although they are not named at the end of the trailer, the supporting cast is touched on.  On the Road is a film based on the novel of the same name by Jack Kerouac.  Walter Salles directed and Jose Rivera wrote the screenplay.  The film stars Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Amy Adams, Viggo Mortensen, Tom Sturridge, Alice Braga, Elizabeth Moss, Danny Morgan, and Marie-Ginette Guay.  How can you not be excited to see this film with all of these actors in it?

“Jack Kerouac’s landmark novel, “On the Road”, beloved by millions around the world for over fifty years, has finally been adapted for the screen. Directed by acclaimed international filmmaker Walter Salles (THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES, CENTRAL STATION) has brought together a world class cast and crew in a film that feels contemporary while remaining faithful to Kerouac’s iconic text.

After the death of his father, Sal Paradise, an aspiring New York writer, meets Dean Moriarty, a wild and infectiously charismatic ex-con. They hit it off immediately. Determined to avoid the pitfalls of a narrow, prescribed life, Sal hits the road, joining Dean on what evolves into a life-changing physical and emotional odyssey. Thirsting for freedom, they discover the world, the ecstasy of experience, the connectedness of humanity and ultimately themselves.”

On the Road does not have a US release date yet, but it starts opening in Europe as early as May 2012.
