Best Coast is Coming to Lawrence on 5/27 & Dallas on 6/01

One of my biggest surprises from this year’s SXSW was Best Coast and with their new record Mexican Summer set to release on May 15th, what better time to see them live than now. Together Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno bring the “Surf Rock” sound that many try to replicate, so missing them live may turn into a regret you just can’t live with. Check out their latest track “The Only Place” in the press release below.

Press Release:

In the midst of preparing for Mexican Summer’s May 15th release of The Only Place, the follow-up to 2010’s Crazy For You LP, Best Coast is proud to announce a tremendous run of live shows in the US and UK. This new tour will see Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno bringing The Only Place‘s beautiful new songs to the big stage.

Consistent with previous Best Coast releases, The Only Place sees Cosentino handling all songwriting and rhythm guitar and multi-instrumentalist Bobb Bruno manning lead guitar, bass and drums. This time around, though, the band has enlisted renowned producer and composer Jon Brion to fully realize what Consentino has characterized as a more mature album than Crazy For You. Brion’s reputation precedes him at this point, but suffice to say that the cleaner, richer sound that he provides perfectly compliments the more complex instrumentation of this new offering from the band. Most notably, this applies to Cosentino’s vocals, which have been placed bare and beautiful at these songs’ forefront, rather than obscured by distortion and reverb.

The upcoming tour dates will be your first chance to witness for yourself the full effect of Best Coast’s gorgeous new offering. See below for the full schedule and prepare yourself for The Only Place.
