Ruby Sparks is a new film by the same directors of Little Miss Sunshine, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. It is about a writer (Paul Dano) who is struggling to write a new book. He falls in love with his main character, Ruby Sparks, and is taken by surprise when she actually appears in real life. He also discovers that what he writes in the book actually happens to the real Ruby Sparks. The film also stars Zoe Kazan, Antonio Banderas, Annette Bening, Steve Coogan, Elliott Gould, Chris Messina, and Deborah Ann Woll. The film has a similar story to Stranger than Fiction starring Emma Thompson and Will Ferrell, but Ruby Sparks has a love story. What if you could write your own true love and they would appear? I would love to do that.
“Calvin (Paul Dano) is a young novelist who achieved phenomenal success early in his career but is now struggling with his writing – as well as his romantic life. Finally, he makes a breakthrough and creates a character named Ruby who inspires him. When Calvin finds Ruby (Zoe Kazan), in the flesh, sitting on his couch about a week later, he is completely flabbergasted that his words have turned into a living, breathing person.”
Ruby Sparks is in theatres July 25, 2012.
