The Words is a film that revolves around at least two couples from different time periods whose lives seem to mirror one another. Both men are writers. The younger man from the present is played by Bradley Cooper and he marries Zoe Saldana. He is having trouble in his writing career until he stumbles onto an old manuscript and passes it off as his own work. Just from the trailer, I can tell that Jeremy Irons plays the older version of the young man played by Ben Barnes from the past. He obviously figures out that this popular novel is his work and confronts Bradley Cooper about it. I gleamed all of this from the trailer, not from a synopsis. I really like the trailer and how it is edited, but I think it gives away way too much information, unless there is some huge plot element that they have left out. Other than the actors already mentioned, The Words also stars Olivia Wilde, Dennis Quaid, and J.K. Simmons.
The song used at the end of the trailer is “Demons” by Imagine Dragons.
“When an aspiring writer claims another man’s long lost work as his own, the price he must pay is more than he could have ever imagined.”
The Words is in theatres September 21, 2012.
