Good Will Hunting: 15th Anniversary Edition Arrives on August 21

Whenever you see one of your favorite movies on Blu-Ray at a dramatically reduced price point, it is always wise to check the internet. When those fan favorites drop in price that usually means a new version is on the horizon, and that is exactly what happened with Good Will Hunting. While new additions are never a bad thing, in fact they are great, it just so happens I recently fell victim to the price trick with Good Will Hunting. It looks like I’ll be double dipping though, because this disc is packed with great special features, and at $15 why complain.

Press Release:

One of the most unforgettable films of the 1990s celebrates its 15th anniversary with the Lionsgate Home Entertainment release of Good Will Hunting: 15th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray Disc and Digital Download on August 21st. The inspirational story of a headstrong, working-class genius and his psychologist took home two Academy Awards® in 1997 – Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Robin Williams; Best Original Screenplay for co-stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck – and was nominated for seven others, including a Best Actor nod for Damon and a Best Supporting Actress nod for Minnie Driver. Launching the careers of Damon (The Bourne Identity, Ocean’s Eleven) and Affleck (Shakespeare In Love, The Town), who co-wrote and starred in the film, the Blu-ray is loaded with special features including newly recorded retrospective interviews with cast and crew, a new interview with Damon looking back on his experience of making the film and much more.

Given “Two Big Thumbs Up” by Siskel & Ebert and hailed as “The Best Picture of the Year” by CBS-TV, the film also stars Stellan Skarsgård (The Avengers) and Casey Affleck (Ocean’s Eleven) and was directed by Academy Award® nominee Gus Van Sant (Best Achievement in Directing, Milk, 2008). Good Will Hunting: 15th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray Disc will be available for the suggested retail price of $14.99.

A true motion picture phenomenon, this triumphant story was nominated for nine Academy Awards® – winning Oscars® for Robin Williams (Best Supporting Actor) and then newcomers Matt Damon and Ben Affleck (Best Original Screenplay). The most brilliant mind at America’s top university isn’t a student…he’s the kid who cleans the floors! Will Hunting (Damon) is a headstrong, working-class genius who’s failing the lessons of life. After one too many run-ins with the law, Will’s last chance is a psychology professor (Williams), who might be the only man who can reach him. With acclaimed performances from Minnie Driver (Grosse Pointe Blank) and Ben Affleck – you’ll find Good Will Hunting a powerful and memorable movie experience!
