Lost in Reviews Presents FAT KID RULES THE WORLD Event in Dallas!

Lost in Reviews (and Betsy Helm) is proud to present a special screening of 2012’s SXSW Narrative Audience Award Winner, Fat Kid Rules the World.

This is a screening of the independent film in Dallas, Texas in association with Tugg.

Why should you see Fat Kid Rules the World?  I had the privilege of being present at the World Premiere of the film at SXSW in March.  It is truly a great film that is based on K.L. Going’s young adult novel of the same name.  First time director, Matthew Lillard, who you may know from Scream, Scooby-Doo, and most recently The Descendants, chose this book to be his first project as a director because he is a huge fan of the book and its message meant something to him.  It took a while to get the film made, but it was definitely worth the wait.

The film has only shown at a few film festivals and is not due for a wide release yet.

The film stars Jacob Wysocki (Terri), Matt O’Leary (Natural Selection, Frailty), and Billy Campbell (The Killing)

“Troy Billings is seventeen, overweight, and suicidal. Just as he’s about to jump in front of a bus, he’s saved by Marcus, acharming high school dropout/street musician. The two begin an uneasy friendship when Marcus enlists the musically challenged Troy to become the drummer in a new punk rock band. As Troy’s relationship with Marcus grows, Troy’s father becomes increasinglyconcerned about his son’s new friendship.  Jacob Wysocki (TERRI), Matt O’Leary (NATURAL SELECTION) and Billy Campbell (THE KILLING) star in Matthew Lillard’s directorial debut based on the novel by K. L. Going and produced by Whitewater Films.”

Where: The Angelika Dallas (5321 East Mockingbird Lane  Dallas, TX 75206)

When: Wednesday, August 15, 2012

Time: 7:30 PM

Cost: $10

Buy your tickets on the Event Page on Tugg.  We have to get 53 tickets sold by August 8 to guarantee the screening.

How does Tugg work?  We have to get at least 54 tickets sold to guarantee the screening.  That does not mean that there are only 54 tickets.  There are plenty of tickets to go around.  If you buy a ticket and the event does not make the quota, you will not be charged.

We want to see you there and make this a success!  We hope to have some goodies and maybe something special in store for the screening as well.  We will keep you updated on that front.

Check out our review of the film from SXSW and watch the trailer and our interview with Matthew Lillard if you need any convincing.
