Lost in Previews: Alex Cross

In the first few seconds of the trailer for Alex Cross, Tyler Perry appears.  It is not, however, a Tyler Perry film.  He is merely an actor in this serious film based on the novel Cross by James Patterson.  Tyler Perry plays a detective who gets called in on a case of a serial killer with a serious penchant for torture.  That serial killer is played by Lost’s Matthew Fox, who seems to have worked out, lost weight, and gone heroin chic for the role.  Alex Cross also Edward Burns, Rachel Nichols, and Jean Reno.  Rob Cohen directed the film.  I am curious to see if Tyler Perry can pull this off in an non-typical role for him.  I certainly like these detective mystery films.

The poster for the film is one of the better ones I have seen in months.  Kudos to the designer.

“ALEX CROSS follows the young homicide detective/psychologist (Tyler Perry), from the worldwide best-selling novels by James Patterson, as he meets his match in a serial killer (Matthew Fox). The two face off in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, but when the mission gets personal, Cross is pushed to the edge of his moral and psychological limits in this taut and exciting action thriller.”

Alex Cross is in theatres October 19, 2012.
