If you saw The Dark Knight Rises, you have probably seen this teaser trailer for Man of Steel. I was completely surprised to see it attached to the TDKR, and it is rare that I have not seen a trailer before I see it in a theatre. At first I could not quite figure out what it was since Christopher Nolan’s name pops up and Syncopy and Legendary Pictures logos are both seen before the trailer starts. Once Henry Cavill shows up, you probably can guess what it is for if you know that he was cast as Superman.
I have to applaud whoever put this trailer together because it is a simple, yet beautiful trailer that gives me hope that it will go more towards the Nolan’s Batman films and not The Avengers route. You really don’t get a taste of the effects of Superman until the trailer is done. It focuses more on Clark Kent and what he is before Superman. In the one I saw in the theatre, Kevin Costner is narrating, as he plays Clark’s father, Jonathan Kent. The other version has the other father, Jor-El, played by Russell Crowe, narrating.
The beautiful and effective trailer has a Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring score track backing it up which brought the trailer to another level. This is the same track that plays when Gandalf falls in Mordor. The score is by Howard Shore.
I can guarantee you now that this teaser will make it into my Top 10 Trailers at the end of the year.
