Lost in Previews: ‘Lawless’ Red Band Trailer

This is the red band trailer for Lawless, and it is definitely NSFW.  I have already seen Lawless, so it is hard for me to step back and say how good of a trailer this is with a fresh eye.  I do think it gives away too much, but I like how it starts out with Shia LaBeouf narrating.  The trailer does show how the film is shot and those lingering shots of the scenery and the characters is true to the film.  The film is based on the novel The Wettest County in the World by Matt Bondurant which is partially a true story of his family.  The film stars Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Dane DeHaan.  Nick Cave wrote the screenplay and John Hilcoat directed.

“LAWLESS is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel “The Wettest County in the World,” the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.”

Lawless is in theatres August 29, 2012.
