Playing for Keeps is a romantic comedy that is rooted in George, a former soccer star whose life has kind of fallen apart. He is not the star he used to be. He is divorced and has a son. He is in debt and looking for a job. He starts to coach his son’s soccer team and through that his life starts to turn around through the people he meets and the possibility of starting a relationship again with his ex-wife. The film stars Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Dennis Quaid, Judy Greer, and James Tupper. The film is directed by Gabriele Muccino who also directed The Pursuit of Happyness.
