Francine is another one of those films that played at SXSW in March 2012 that I missed seeing. This is the first trailer for the film, and this is very much a showcase for Melissa Leo. I am somewhat glad I did not see it because it does look to have an aspect of animal care that I don’t really like to subject myself to. The cast includes Melissa Leo, Keith Leonard, Victoria Charkut, Dave Clark, Michael Halstead. Brian M. Cassidy and Melanie Shatzky directed the film.
“Taciturn ex-con Francine (Melissa Leo) has difficulty adjusting to life in a small lakeside town when she begins working with animals, and finds herself growing increasingly isolated from the community. Unable to form the human connections that will help her to re-assimilate into society, Francine falls into a tragic cycle of anti-social behavior.”
Francine is in select theatres now.
