Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts star in THE IMPOSSIBLE

If you remember back to Christmas 2004, an unexpected tsunami rushed the islands of Thailand and killed 170,000 people and wiped out almost everything the locals knew as their home. With every tragedy, a few stories of true heroism always come to the surface to brighten us up. One of those stories of heroism is now being told in the film THE IMPOSSIBLE, starring Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor. Below you can find a featurette and below that the trailer for the film. Beware, the trailer seems to have a few spoilers in it.

Now if that doesn’t satisfy your intrigue in the whole subject enough, a while back I came across a loosely fit together documentary about the 2004 Tsunami on YouTube. It’s in seven pieces, but all together, it will absolutely break your heart. The entire film is footage shot from the survivors of the tsunami. Being that it was Christmas, many families were on holiday and naturally had their camera out capturing moments with their family. Those moments of joy quickly turn to terror when the waves hit and those who lived to tell the tales do so on film. I have posted the documentary below in the small bits that it was available on YouTube.

Below please find a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Summit Entertainment’s THE IMPOSSIBLE.  The featurette explores the true story of one family’s survival of the 2004 tsunami, including an interview with the real life survivor portrayed by Naomi Watts.
