New Posters for ‘Django Unchained,’ ‘Beautiful Creatures,’ ‘Warm Bodies,’ and ‘The Last Stand’

Be prepared to be blasted with four posters from four upcoming films: Django Unchained, Beautiful Creatures, Warm Bodies, and The Last Stand.

First up is the final poster  for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.  It stars Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson.

“Set in the South two years before the Civil War, DJANGO UNCHAINED stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox

Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.
Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival…”
Django Unchained is in theatres December 25, 2012.
Beautiful Creatures also debuted what is probably their final poster as well.  It is the same as the teaser poster except they put the actors in front of the gate.  Not particularly inventive, and it screams Photoshop.  The film stars Alden Ehrenreich, Alice Englert, Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum, and Emma Thompson.

“A supernatural love story set in the South, “Beautiful Creatures” tells the tale of two star-crossed lovers: Ethan (Alden Ehrenreich), a young man longing to escape his small town, and Lena (Alice Englert), a mysterious new girl. Together, they uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town. Oscar(R) nominee Richard LaGravenese (“The Fisher King,””P.S. I Love You”) directs from his adaptation of the first novel in the best-selling series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. The film stars Alden Ehrenreich (“Tetro”), newcomer Alice Englert, Academy Award(R) winner Jeremy Irons (“Reversal of Fortune”) Oscar(R) nominee Viola Davis (“The Help,” “Doubt”), Emmy Rossum (TV’s “Shameless”) and Academy Award(R) winner Emma Thompson (“Howard’s End,” “Sense and Sensibility”).”

Beautiful Creatures is in theatres February 13, 2013.

Warm Bodies put out another poster very similar to the first after the trailer was out on the web for a couple of days.  I like the the theme with the posters and the images.  I hope the publicity campaign sticks to it.  The posters will surely stand out in the movie theatres.

Warm Bodies stars Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, John Malkovich, Analeigh Tipton, Dave Franco, Lizzy Caplan, Cory Hardrict, and Rob Coddry.  It is based on the novel of the same name by Isaac Marion.  Jonathan Levine wrote and directed the film.

“A funny new twist on a classic love story, WARM BODIES is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human – setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.”

Warm Bodies is in theatres February 1, 2013.

Last, but not least, is the poster for The Last Stand, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s new film.  Other than Arnie, it stars Forest Whitaker, Eduardo Noriega, Rodrigo Santoro, Johnny Knoxville, Jaimie Alexander, Peter Stormare, Zach Gilford, and Genesis Rodriguez.

“Action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger makes his much-anticipated return to the big screen in Korean director Kim Jee-woon’s hard-hitting US directorial debut, THE LAST STAND. After leaving his LAPD narcotics post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with remorse and regret, Sheriff Ray Owens (Schwarzenegger) moved out of Los Angeles and settled into a life fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction. But that peaceful existence is shattered when Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the western hemisphere, makes a deadly yet spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy. With the help of a fierce band of lawless mercenaries led by the icy Burrell (Peter Stormare), Cortez begins racing towards the US-Mexico border at 250 mph in a specially-outfitted Corvette ZR1 with a hostage in tow.”

The Last Stand is in theatres January 18, 2013.
