Lost in Previews: ‘Star Trek: Into Darkness’ Second Teaser Trailer

Star Trek PosterFirst, we had an “announcement trailer” and now another trailer has hit the web today for Star Trek: Into Darkness.  It hits at less than two minutes long, and is being called a teaser trailer.  It gives us completely new scenes, not just adding onto the announcement trailer.  It is still vague enough to qualify as a teaser trailer.

Enough with the semantics.  The teaser gives us a glimpse of all of the main cast members and builds on the details about the villain of this film, Benedict Cumberbatch.  He narrates the trailer at the end, and mentions family, combined with what looks like Spock touching his hand through glass.  Hmmm.  He is in prison in part of the trailer.  There also appears to be a lot of death in this film, but what causes it and who dies is anyone’s guess.  I do LOVE the score that is used in the trailer.  I believe two different tracks are used.  Still excited for this.  Are you?

The film stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve, Bruce Greenwood, and Peter Weller.  J.J. Abrams directed the film.

“In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes ‘Star Trek Into Darkness.’ When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.”

Star Trek: Into Darkness is in theatres May 17, 2013.
