Listen to the first track from M83’s Oblivion score:

27a18fcfFollowing in the footsteps of other recent electronic artists turned film composers such as Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross and Daft Punk, M83’s Anthony Gonzalez is entering the world of film and has scored the new Joseph Kosinski’ film Oblivion. If you’re a fan of M83’s work, then you’re probably already wondering why it took so long for Gonzalez to finally get around to doing film scores, seeing as how M83’s music is already so epic and cinematic.

The first track is here, and it’s glorious. Yep, sounds exactly like you’d expect it to. I for one am extremely excited about being to able to eventually listen to the whole thing, or for that matter watch a film entirely scored by M83. Or the inevitable scene where Tom Cruise’s character hums that refrain from Midnight City for 2.5 hours.

Check out the first track, “StarWaves”, below:

Oblivion hits theaters April 19th, while M83’s score is due out on April 9th.
