‘Elysium’ Domestic and International Trailers and New Images

ElysiumOriginally slated to be released at the end of March, Elysium now has an August release date and its first kick-ass trailer.  This is a very heavy CGI film, especially when the film focuses on Elysium, the spaceship in the sky where the privileged live.  The rest are back on Earth living in bad conditions.  Matt Damon’s character wants to change that and that involves becoming a half human/half machine that will give him the power to pull it off.  Jodie Foster plays an authority figure on Elysium wanting to keep it a privileged place with all of the technological benefits with it.  Neill Blomkamp wrote and directed Elysium.  His previous work was District 9, and I can see the similarities in the Earth setting to the alien slums in District 9.  He has also brought back Sharlto Copley for this film also.

I added four images from the film below and also included the domestic and international trailers.

The film also stars Alice Braga, Diego Luna, William Fichtner, and Wagner Moura.

“In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth.  The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens’ luxurious lifestyle.  The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium.  With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.”

Elysium is in theatres August 9, 2013.
