Lost in Previews: Thor: The Dark World

Thor The Dark World PosterIt is good versus evil in the next film adaptation of comic superhero Thor.  In Thor: The Dark World, the darkness and evil that we saw at the end of The Avengers is continued on in this sequel.  Thor (Chris Hemsworth) takes his human lady love, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), back to Asgard to keep her safe.  It looks like Sif (Jaimie Alexander) may be a bit jealous of this girl showing up on her planet.   Thor’s father (Anthony Hopkins) has made a full recovery and there is some Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in the film as well.  When Jane Foster is held in mid-air at the end, it reminded me a lot of a certain scene in Harry Potter.

FYI: Jaimie Alexander received a somewhat major injury during filming while she was doing some stunts.

The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo, and Anthony Hopkins.  Alan Taylor directed the script by Christopher Yost , Christopher Markus, and Stephen McFeely.

The trailer is below as well as the first two official stills.

“Marvels “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvels “Thor” and “Marvels The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.”

Thor: The Dark World is in theatres November 8, 2013.
