Li Bingbing Joins Michael Bay’s ‘Transformers 4’

Li Bing Bing Bingbing Ada Wong Resident Evil Retribution 2011 Cannes Chinese actress ChinaThe cast of the latest Transformers movie just keeps getting bigger.  Joining the already cast Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz and Sophia Myles is Chinese actress Li Bingbing.  The recently named “Asian Star of the Year” by Variety is known mostly for her work in 2012’s Resident Evil: Retribution and 2008’s The Forbidden Kingdom which she costarred with Jet Li and Jackie Chan.

“I am thrilled to get to work with Michael Bay. ‘Transformers’ has influenced generations in China and the movie franchise has a massive fan base. I am very happy to be able to join this international production. Thank you Paramount for the invitation! Looking forward to it!” said Li Bingbing.

As of this writing there is no word on what character she will be playing, however filming is expected to begin this summer in the US and China.  Paramount has partnered with China Movie Channel and Jiaflix Enterprises in supporting the production of filming in China including theatrical promotion, the casting of Chinese actors and actresses, and post production.  Currently there is no American release date but it is expected to be released in the summer of 2014.
