Although Lost in Reviews was invited to sit down with My Week with Marilyn director Curtis Smith for an interview, scheduling conflicts made that impossible. The next best thing is providing you with the video of the Question and Answer session with Curtis that took place after a screening of the film in Dallas. Curtis was more than happy to talk at length about the film with the audience, and definitely gives some insight into the film that you may not know otherwise.

I was beyond excited to have snagged a red carpet spot for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 Fan Event for Dallas, Texas. I have always been a devout Twihard since I read the books. Kansas City did not have many opportunities to do anything interview-wise for any of the Twilight Saga films. I think I bothered the PR rep here enough that she kindly let me have a spot for this event. It was like some kind dream come true (for me).
We were able to interview Jackson Rathbone (Jasper), Nikki Reed (Rosalie), Ashley...

Lost in Reviews was able to attend a red carpet event in Dallas, Texas for Puss in Boots. Both Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas were in attendance, and we were able to get a very quick interview with them both. Salma and Antonio voice the two main characters of the film, Kitty Softpaws and Puss in Boots.
Puss in Boots is in theatres October 28, 2011.

Hesher is available on DVD and Blu Ray on 9/13/11 so we thought it would be nice to revisit one of favorite interviews from SXSW. Enjoy the interview and make sure you pick up a copy of Hesher this Tuesday.
I had briefly spoken with Director, Spencer Susser and some of the cast before my screening of Hesher at SXSW. However, I loved the film so much that I just had to sit back down with Spencer and pick his brain a bit more about the direction he used and how he shot Hesher. I would urge everyone to check out Hesher this Tuesday...

We had the privilege of sitting down with Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn for an interview when he was in Dallas, Texas. I really enjoyed the film and the uniqueness of it. Through the three questions I was able to ask him, he added another level to the film that I never picked up on. The idea of Ryan Gosling’s character as a superhero never occurred to me, and I am glad he used that word. The interview may contain some little spoilers about the film if you do not know much about the plot of Drive.

In support of the film, Sarah’s Key, author Tatiana de Rosnay was in Dallas to promote the film adaptation of her novel. Lost in Reviews had the chance to sit down with Tatiana and discuss her book and the film. It was enlightening to talk to the author of the book a film is based on since everything about the story originated with her. Tatiana discusses how the film came about and her involvement in the process, how she chose the subject matter, and her more recent novels. She also let us know at least one of her...

Lost in Reviews was invited to a round table interview with Selena Gomez in Dallas, Texas. Selena Gomez is a Dallas area native, and she was in town promoting her new movie, Monte Carlo, which opens July 1, 2011 nationwide. We were able to bring a young fan with us, and I brought eight year old Madison Zdrojewski with me. She was able to ask Selena a question towards the end of the interview. Selena was gracious enough to sign a poster for Madison after the interview.
In the interview, Selena talks about her music, her...

I had the pleasure of interviewing Buck Brannaman again in support of Buck in Dallas, Texas. I tried to touch on all the praise and promotion this documentary has gotten since I first saw it at SXSW 2011. Buck was also on The Late Show with David Letterman the night before my interview. Buck talks about Eddie Vedder, the Academy Awards, how his family has reacted to all the fame, a recent outbreak of equine herpes that forced him to cancel some of his clinics, and how you would care for an older horse.
I attended a screening...

I was able to sit down with Beginners director Mike Mills while I was at SXSW to talk about his film. I did not realize until right before the interview that the film is based on his experiences and is semi-autobiographical. I asked him about Goran Visnjic who plays the father’s boyfriend in the film. I also had to ask about Lou Taylor Pucci who was in Mills’ Thumbsucker and made a cameo appearance in Beginners. My review of Beginners is forthcoming . . .

Attack the Block had its world premiere as one of the midnight features at SXSW 2011 where it went on to win the Midnight Feature Award at the festival. The morning after its debut Lost in Reviews had a chance to catch up with the writer and director of Attack the Block JOE CORNISH and producer Edgar Wright. Cornish’s name may not ring a bell right away but if I told you that he wrote Shaun of the Dead as well as Hot Fuzz that should make you familiar with some of his work. After grabbing some breakfast and a brief aside...

Morgan Spurlock is known for his controversial topics in his documentaries such as Super Size Me, and how that topic seems to revolutionize the country after most have seen it. Well, he at least gets people talking. His newest documentary was premiering at SXSW and I had the opportunity to spend a couple of minutes with him and his partner on the project Jeremy Chilnick. Watch it below and be sure to check out the film when it opens in your town. For my full review on Pom Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, and...

During SXSW Josh participated in a round table interviews with the cast and director of ground breaking film Win Win (Paul Giamatti, Amy Ryan, Alex Shaffer, and Thomas McCarthy). A Thomas McCarthy Film about suburban family who are facing financial problems and through a series of events have a young sixteen year old boy enters their lives who happens to be a star athlete.
Q: Was it always your intention, Tom, to cast somebody with no background in Kyle’s role?
A (Tom): Yeah, it was. I think early on I decided...

After seeing Buck at SXSW in Austin, Texas, I had the opportunity to interview the subject of the documentary, Buck Brannaman. I also interviewed director Cindy Meehl. I asked about the film and some of the subjects touched upon in the film. At the end, Meehl talks about the distribution of Buck and the date you can expect to see it in a theatre near you. Unfortunately, the interview was plagued by the preparations for the music portion of SXSW. Please check out my review of Buck also.
