INSIDIOUS is set for release this Friday April 1. The film was one of the opening night midnight features of SXSW 2011. While I was in Austin for SXSW, and the morning after the midnight showing of the film at the festival I had a chance to catch up with the writer, and one of the co-stars of Insidious Leigh Whannell. Whannell is perhaps best known for being the writer of 2004′s horror genre-redefining Saw. Saw ended up being the film which brought the Australian along with friend and director of both Saw and Insidious...

INSIDIOUS is set for release this Friday April 1. The film was one of the opening night midnight features of SXSW 2011. While I was in Austin for SXSW, and the morning after the midnight bow of the film at the festival I had a chance to catch up with the producer Oren Peli. If Mr. Peli’s name doesn’t ring a bell let me add this. He is also the writer, producer and director of 2007′s Paranormal Activity. Insidious marks the first film from Peli and his producing partners on Paranormal Jason Blum and Steven Schneider....

INSIDIOUS is set for release this Friday April 1. The film was one of the opening night midnight features of SXSW 2011. While I was in Austin for SXSW, and the morning after the midnight showing of the film at the festival I had a chance to catch up with Insidious director James Wan. Wan is perhaps best known for being the director of 2004′s horror genre-redefining Saw, though as you’ll find in the interview its a credit he is eager to shake. Saw ended up being the film which brought the friend and writer of both Saw...

I had the opportunity to sit down with actors Shiloh Fernandez and Heath Freeman (who also co-wrote and co-produced) to talk about their film, Skateland. Once again, I did not have the opportunity to see Skateland prior to the interview. Skateland did not screen at SXSW, but will be coming to Dallas, Texas tentatively on May 20, 2011. I will definitely be seeing it when it comes here. I would like to say that Shiloh is very nice and easy to approach. This was my second time interviewing him at SXSW. He is one of...

As you may know, we at Lost In Reviews were most excited for the SXSW premiere film, American Animal. The trailer really sells the film well too as it sets up the story for some crazy shit to go down. If you are like us and love to watch a train wreck, but also can’t live without a little social commentary on people, you will love American Animal. We sat down after the premiere and talked with Matt D’Elia: writer, director, star, producer and editor of American Animal, as well as Brendan Fletcher and Mircea Monroe,...

Previous to me seeing 96 Minutes at SXSW, I was able to interview the cast and director of 96 Minutes. Brittany Snow, Christian Serratos, Evan Ross, David Oyelowo, and writer/director Amy Lagos were all in attendance. I wish I had seen the film first because I would have had some better questions for them. I went for a group interview with this one and it happened on the deck of the Brixton in Austin, Texas.

I had briefly spoken with Director, Spencer Susser and some of the cast before my screening of Hesher at SXSW. However, I loved the film so much that I just had to sit back down with Spencer and pick his brain a bit more about the direction he used and how he shot Hesher. I would urge everyone to check out Hesher when it comes through your town.
Hesher is the story of a loner that hates the world and everyone who bugs him. He has long hair, looks malnourished and is covered with homemade tattoos that also shout his hatred to...

Michelle Monaghan stars alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in Duncan Jones’ sophomore feature film Source Code. Michelle was very happy to sit down and talk with us about the move and all the what ifs that come with seeing a film like Source Code. Make sure you check the film out yourself. Warning: this interview may contain spoilers.
So, on a movie like this, is the continuity not a problem, since each time it’s a different time? You don’t have to –
Michelle: NO! It was completely and totally a problem. ...

The very lovely Vera Farmiga sat down with Lost In Reviews to talk about her role in Source Code. She was very soft-spoken and very kind. There were other people in the room with myself and Vera, so that is why l you may see something said out of context. Vera seemed very passionate about Source Code and it was due in large to it being attached to Duncan Jones, who is definitely one of my favorite directors now. Go see Source Code on April 1st and enjoy the magnitude of it. Warning: This interview may contain spoilers.
I’d...

I have been a fan of Jake Gyllenhaal for a long time now, I mean Bubble Boy long time. His new film Source Code opens nationwide April 1st. I sat down with Jake to talk about how he prepared for such a solitary role and what he loved about the script and more. Be sure to check out Source Code when it comes out. Believe me, it really blew me away with how much I enjoyed it. Check out our Source Code review here. Warning: There may be spoilers in this dialogue for Source Code.
One of the things I find most amazing about you as...

Josh had a chance to talk to the cast and crew of the upcoming drama WIN WIN at this year’s SXSW film festival. WIN WIN is the story of Mike Flaherty (Giamatti), an attorney who in his spare time teaches high school wrestling. He stumbles across a star athlete through some questionable business dealings while trying to support his family. Just as it looks like he will get a double payday, the boy’s mother shows up fresh from rehab and flat broke, threatening to derail everything. WIN WIN opened in limited release...

Ryan has been a fan of Ti West for a while now. Ever since the existence of The House of the Devil, he was hooked. When he heard that Ti West was premiering his next film, The Innkeepers at SXSW 2011, he just had to meet him. Here, they talk about the techniques Ti used to insert the creepy into this haunted thriller. Check out the video and let us know what you think. Also be sure to check out The Innkeepers when it comes to your town as this was one of the favorites by many this year. Read Ryan’s review for The Innkeepers...

One of the most anticipated headliners here at SXSW is Jodie Foster’s The Beaver, starring Mel Gibson as Walter Black, a CEO at a toy company who falls into a deep depression and finds that the only way he can continue functioning with the outside world is through a beaver handpuppet.
The Beaver premiered Wednesday, March 16th at the Paramount Theatre here in Austin to a large crowd that featured appearances by actress and director Foster, as well as Anton Yelchin, who plays Walter’s son Porter, and screenwriter and Austin-native...

I had the opportunity to sit down with a small group of people and talk to the cast and crew of Source Code in individual sessions. The most interesting interview, by far, was with Duncan Jones (director) and Ben Ripley (writer). Not that the actors were less interesting, but being able to spend twenty minutes or so just diving into the minds of the creator of such a complex and unique story that was Source Code. I am very excited to share this with you.
There are so many images we see in this film, over and over and over, but...

Lost in Reviews was live at SXSW with exclusive interviews with the cast of Paul and Bridesmaids. I had the chance to ask the cast burning questions about the films. Mostly I was given the chance to nerd out about movies with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Check out the interviews below and let me know what you think!
