I was able to sit down with Beginners director Mike Mills while I was at SXSW to talk about his film. I did not realize until right before the interview that the film is based on his experiences and is semi-autobiographical. I asked him about Goran Visnjic who plays the father’s boyfriend in the film. I also had to ask about Lou Taylor Pucci who was in Mills’ Thumbsucker and made a cameo appearance in Beginners. My review of Beginners is forthcoming . . .

Attack the Block had its world premiere as one of the midnight features at SXSW 2011 where it went on to win the Midnight Feature Award at the festival. The morning after its debut Lost in Reviews had a chance to catch up with the writer and director of Attack the Block JOE CORNISH and producer Edgar Wright. Cornish’s name may not ring a bell right away but if I told you that he wrote Shaun of the Dead as well as Hot Fuzz that should make you familiar with some of his work. After grabbing some breakfast and a brief aside...

Sergio Vega re-joined the Deftones in 2009 after tragedy struck the band in late 2008 when bassist Chi Cheng was left in a “minimally conscious” state following a car accident. Vega had previously filled in for Cheng ten years earlier in 1999 when Cheng had been unable to tour with the band. Lost in Reviews had a chance to catch up with Sergio prior to the Deftones performance in support of their 2010 release Diamond Eyes in front of a sold out crowd on Monday April 25 at the Voodoo Lounge in Kansas City. We failed...

Alessandro Cortini may not be a name you immediately recognize. If you’re really into modular synthesizer’s you probably are. If not, its more likely you’ve seen him play. If you caught Nine Inch Nails on tour anytime between 2005 and 2008 there was a good chance you saw him performing live with that incarnation of the band. Cortini is also credited on Nine Inch Nails 2008 release Ghost I-IV as well as that same year’s The Slip. Besides his time with Nine Inch Nails, Cortini also has many other...

Morgan Spurlock is known for his controversial topics in his documentaries such as Super Size Me, and how that topic seems to revolutionize the country after most have seen it. Well, he at least gets people talking. His newest documentary was premiering at SXSW and I had the opportunity to spend a couple of minutes with him and his partner on the project Jeremy Chilnick. Watch it below and be sure to check out the film when it opens in your town. For my full review on Pom Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, and...

Hoping to join the ranks of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and cult favorite Office Space, is the new single-camera Comedy Central show, Workaholics; starring Adam Devine, Anders Holm, and Blake Anderson. The new series gained it’s footing with the web series 5th Year, which can be seen at Funny or Die. Recently, I had the opportunity to speak with one of the stars of Workaholics, Adam Devine.
Adam: Hey Mendie, it’s Adam.
Me: Hi Adam, it’s nice talking with you. I am from Lost in Reviews; we...

During SXSW Josh participated in a round table interviews with the cast and director of ground breaking film Win Win (Paul Giamatti, Amy Ryan, Alex Shaffer, and Thomas McCarthy). A Thomas McCarthy Film about suburban family who are facing financial problems and through a series of events have a young sixteen year old boy enters their lives who happens to be a star athlete.
Q: Was it always your intention, Tom, to cast somebody with no background in Kyle’s role?
A (Tom): Yeah, it was. I think early on I decided...

After seeing Buck at SXSW in Austin, Texas, I had the opportunity to interview the subject of the documentary, Buck Brannaman. I also interviewed director Cindy Meehl. I asked about the film and some of the subjects touched upon in the film. At the end, Meehl talks about the distribution of Buck and the date you can expect to see it in a theatre near you. Unfortunately, the interview was plagued by the preparations for the music portion of SXSW. Please check out my review of Buck also.

Josh was given the opportunity to interview Billy Bob Thorton among others on the red carpet for The King of Luck, a documentary about Willie Nelson. Looking into every aspect of the man, the songwriter, the friend, the father, legendary performer and champion of the family farmer. It goes further, however, as a film, it is about the end of the old west and how troubadours such as Willie Nelson keep the legend alive through storytelling. [Symopsis courtesy of SXSW]

INSIDIOUS is set for release this Friday April 1. The film was one of the opening night midnight features of SXSW 2011. While I was in Austin for SXSW, and the morning after the midnight showing of the film at the festival I had a chance to catch up with the writer, and one of the co-stars of Insidious Leigh Whannell. Whannell is perhaps best known for being the writer of 2004′s horror genre-redefining Saw. Saw ended up being the film which brought the Australian along with friend and director of both Saw and Insidious...

INSIDIOUS is set for release this Friday April 1. The film was one of the opening night midnight features of SXSW 2011. While I was in Austin for SXSW, and the morning after the midnight bow of the film at the festival I had a chance to catch up with the producer Oren Peli. If Mr. Peli’s name doesn’t ring a bell let me add this. He is also the writer, producer and director of 2007′s Paranormal Activity. Insidious marks the first film from Peli and his producing partners on Paranormal Jason Blum and Steven Schneider....
