Alright, summer is finally over and all I can do is give a big sigh of relief. I feel the same way when it comes to this latest addition to the Rom-Com category. After a few viewings of the trailer I had to say that I was a little worried. Mostly because it felt like Going the Distance was just the first of many that would try to cash in on the crowd the (500) Days of Summer left behind. I’m happy to say I was wrong and the only thing Going the Distance has in common with one of my favorite movies from last year is how...

“I am Pat f***ing Tillman! Why are you shooting at me?”
I remember when Pat Tillman died. The story was on every major network. I do not remember stories about him joining the Army, but I am not a football fan so that may have not been news to me. I also remember when it was reported that he was killed by fratricide (friendly fire) after the government decided to try and make him a hero. I have seen The Tillman Story twice, and the second time did not lessen the effect that the movie had on me.
Pat Tillman...

Machete was born out of a fake movie trailer that ran before Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror in the double feature Grindhouse with Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof. After seeing the trailer, many fans started asking when they would be able to see the entire movie. Robert Rodriguez obviously took note because the movie Machete does not disappoint. I never saw the Grindhouse double feature, mainly because ridiculous amounts of violence and gore are not my cup of tea. After seeing the real trailers for Machete...

Angela and I had a chance to catch the new George Clooney film, The American. It was nice to see a true film after so much of the fluff this lackluster summer had brought upon us, watch the video below to see why.

Blu Monday for the week of August 31 was short and sweet. We will talk about Harry Brown on Blu-ray and Brothers and Sisters: The Complete Fourth Season on DVD.
Video Review Summary:
Harry Brown on Blu-Ray: Michael Caine stars in this action-packed story of a man who takes things into his own hands when his friend is killed and the law is no help. Ryan thought that this was an excellent story worth watching over and over again. Caine is at the peak of his career with Harry Brown and the direction was brilliant as well. Even...

For Shazam: The Power of Hope I needed to regress to a state of childhood innocence . So I had some thin mint cookies and a frosty glass of milk while reading this great book one more time. Back in a minute folks. Munch…munch.
There. All stoked up and armed with a willing suspension of disbelief now. Let’s begin with even when I was a kid I wasn’t very child-like. The sure way to lose me as an audience was trying to pander to me by throwing some awkward performing child at me; especially the precocious ones...

Recent years have shown a steady increase in punk rock’s leading men slinging an acoustic guitar around their shoulder and making the exodus (if only temporary) into a fledgling solo folk career. This trend has seen an incredible display of songwriting muscle from Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music), Tim Barry (Avail), and Frank Turner (Million Dead), as well as projects like Drag the River, a band which has boasted talent from the likes of ALL, the Nobodys, Armchair Martian, and many other Colorado bands. With the already long,...

I hadn’t realized that The Producers wasn’t a touring production until Starlight President and Executive Producer Denton Yockey shared as much prior-to the show’s opening night curtain. I guess I should have noticed that the Preview performance Monday night was a giveaway or the fact that I had read about rehearsals taking place here in town for a couple of weeks now.
Regardless, as it proved last season with Anything Goes, the Starlight production staff can put on a heck of a show as, pardon the pun here, producers...

Takers is another heist movie, revolving around a group of thieves/BFFs who do jobs every few years. Other hobbies of theirs include wearing suits 24/7 and drinking scotch. All the time. The murder to whiskey ratio of this movie is pretty balanced, I’d say. Anyway, one of their previous heists ended poorly for one of their comrades, Ghost. Ghost is left bleeding out on a fire escape, gets caught, goes to jail and does not pass go or collect $200. Takers is about what happens once Ghost gets out of jail with a proposition...

I fully admit that I love it when the Big Wigs decide to provide the viewers with sneak peak of an upcoming show. Not only does it allow for the critic in me to get a jump start on my review so I don’t have to worry about whether or not I will be able to get all the reviews done in a timely manner. But it also opens up an otherwise occupied hour. Which as we all know is in short supply these days. I also fully admit that I did not like Heroes. In fact, I didn’t even like the pilot, the first season,...

You should know by now that Lost In Reviews is a freak for all things LOST, so it was only fitting that we dedicate a whole week just to the release of LOST The Final Season (season six), available on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, August 24. Of course, you could pick it up at midnight at your local media store tonight! I will be telling you all about the Blu-ray edition.
The first thing you will notice about the package is how small it’s gotten compared to your other Blu-rays, season one through five. Well, you have to take...

Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth
Written by Paul Dini
Illustrated by Alex Ross
Published by DC Comics
Okay, let’s just get this said here and now. I’m not really that much of a Wonder Woman fan. She is a great character that has been mishandled for decades at a time and then a good writer/artist team will run with the title and a breath of fresh air blows over the collective stinkage that editors allow this title to become. Although I will say Gail Simone’s recent writing of the comic was one of the best runs they’ve...

The world’s biggest D.I.Y. Punk band, NOFX, is still at it, releasing The Longest EP on August 17th – what could unofficially be considered the follow-up to the recent greatest hits-type release from 2004, The Greatest Songs Ever Written (By Us!). The album consists of an epic compilation of tracks selected from their numerous EPs and B-Sides, rather than from full-length studio releases. For NOFX fans, most, if not all, of the songs are familiar, but there is definitely enough meat on this bone to give it a try and if...

Why do most people have such discontent with music like Dave Matthews or Jack Johnson that never stray from a basic formula of love, having a peaceful good time, togetherness, flip-flops, pineapples, doing good things in this world, and just sitting in a circle of friends on the beach playing guitar and sipping on rum? What is to not like about it? Do positive vibes scratch at these people’s very core? What is it about this music that when these people hear it they say something like, “This music is for liberal fags!...

You’ve already seen Lottery Ticket. No really, you have. Don’t believe me? If you’ve seen a Friday movie, a ‘Madea’ flick, Barbershop, or Beauty Shop, then you know exactly what to expect out of Lottery Ticket. Here you have the same movie with new characters, new antics, and a couple of questionable attempts at humor that are a little offensive.
Lottery Ticket delivers a fairly hum-drum plot. Kevin (Bow Wow) lives with his grandmother in the ‘hood and is a recent high school graduate....
