I had to work all day and the computer at work won’t allow you to watch videos. Of course, I rushed home to watch the whole 90 second The Twilight Saga: Eclipse trailer. I have to say that I am disappointed in the trailer and what is shown. You don’t really get any excitement or cool scenes like the trailer(s) for New Moon (any of them). The music in the background was just generic. The lines they chose to use in the trailer are corny. I do like the locations they used, very pretty. You get to see four...

Tonight’s episode was probably my favorite this season so far. So much was answered, just from my list last week of things left to be answered! Tonight’s episode centered around Ben Linus, but had a lot of side plots that answered so much.
Right from the start, there are comparisons of Ben Linus to Napoleon, (this show is so genius) Ben has been left alive but with no power and basically helpless in both worlds we are watching. The alternate world, Dr. Linus is being belittled by his boss, the Principal and works...

Arriving at the sparsely filled Beaumont Club a little after 6:30 Dreams are for Rookies were already on stage. A pretty early start time for local bands whose set times are usually closer to 11pm on a Friday night than the 6PM start time that the first annual Popwreckoning.com SXSW showcase kicked off at.
Since I arrived a little after the first set time I only caught the final two songs of Dreams are for Rookies set . They brought some good kick off energy to a crowd in their short thirty minutes on stage. The crowd initially was...

Tonight was crazy and exciting, while saddening at the same time, being the finale and all. I have had fun with this season and I knew they would try to wrap up as many plots as possible, while not filling all of the holes. My first plot hole is Adaleen burning JJ and JJ’s wife in the wheel chair alive in the clinic, while tied up on the ground. While this was awesome and needed (hated that guy), all we see is JJ running off from the clinic when Bill arrives and Adaleen screaming for someone to run after him and get him....

The subject matter of The Ghost Writer may be curiously close to to the life of it’s director, Roman Polanski, but it’s political allegory left me forgetting about Polanski’s recent extradition. Even though the story of a Prime Minister running to another country to escape trial does seem a little close to home.
Minus the Polanski sub-text, The Ghost Writer is about a nameless writer played by Ewan McGregor who has been hired to ghost write the memoirs of the ex Prime-Minister Adam Lang. Lang (Pierce Brosnan)...

Everywhere you go, you are bound to see mixed reviews for Alice In Wonderland. Some will hate it, while others won’t mind it, let me assure you that most people don’t know the story they are talking about.
Let me preface my review by telling you that I have always been a freak about the Alice In Wonderland stories. There are two stories by Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland and a later sequel called Through the Looking Glass and what Alice found there. Tim Burton’s version was a hodge podge grab all from both...

Brooklyn’s Finest follows the story of three police officers in the 65th precinct of the NYPD. Eddie Dugan(Richard Gere) is the 22 year veteran one week out of retirement (hello cliché!). He is being forced to work with young wide-eyed naive rookies that draw his ire. Salvatore “Sal” Procida (Ethan Hawke) is a devout Catholic with a family of four and two more on the way that rely strictly on his officer’s salary to get by. His mold-filled home is causing health issues for his wife and he desperately...

Tonight’s episode centered around Sayid and the fine line he treads between evil and good. The alternate reality for him barely showed anything. We see that his brother has married his love, Nadia and had two children with her, while he has been working a very normal, boring job. His brother gets into some financial trouble and basically asks Sayid to “wack ‘em” and he refuses, saying he is not that person. Ok, so in the alternate world that possibly Jacob did not interfere, Sayid moves on after the war...

When the doors opened and I got a look at the crowd that began filing into the Beaumont Club on Sunday night, I got a feeling that the show would be special. People of all ages and walks of life entered with smiles of anticipation and nods to each other in understanding of what they were about to witness. It was heartening to see so many different types of people gathered together to have a party – which is exactly what Larry and His Flask, Strung Out and The Dropkick Murphys did. They had one wicked-ass party for Kansas...

As we had previously posted, Starlight Theatre was taking a survey to gauge interest in holding a screening of the concert film Another Version of the Truth: The Gift. The film was assembled by a group of passionate fans under the project name of “This one is on us” using band-shot footage that they released as a “gift” of the 2008-2009 Nine Inch Nails North America ‘Lights in the Sky’ tour.
Well if you are a Nine Inch Nails fan, there is some great news. Response was good enough that Starlight...

There comes those rare moments where various pieces of things fall together to create something that is unmistakable from reality and the story it tells. Such is the case in the Kansas City Repertory Theatre’s production of BROKE-OLOGY.
Broke-ology written by Kansas City, Kansas native Nathan Louis Jackson and using KCK as it’s setting is an intimate window into the lives of the King family masterfully crafted on the Copaken stage. When we first meet William (David Emerson Toney) and a very pregnant Sonia (Shamika...

Rated R for some disturbing content involving violence and sexuality.
Could there ever be an explanation for the rise of Nazi Germany? One Austrian film maker puffs out his chest and spoon-feeds us his answer in 144 minutes of a beautiful (though outrageously masochistic) film, The White Ribbon.
Our story begins in an unknown village in northern Germany, 1913. At first, it seems to be a quiet, sleepy place held together by it’s strict authorities. We are introduced to many of the inhabitants, including the baron...

Parody of eighties buddy cop films hits all the right parody notes but like some of it’s jokes, it goes on a bit too long.
If you are a fan of 80’s buddy cop films, Tango & Cash, Lethal Weapon, 48 Hours, and Beverly Hills Cop then Cop Out maybe right up your alley. The entire film is a parody on those popular films from the eighties. It wasn’t immediately obvious to me that this was the case. For some reason I had it in my head that Cop Out, while being a comedy, would at least be a bit serious, like...
