Many of you may know that Hobo With a Shotgun got it’s head start by first being recognized as an outstanding trailer in a fake trailer competition. From there, Director, Jason Eisener went on to make the full length film that is now showing at SXSW 2011 in Austin. He is now ready to return the favor with his own Fake Trailers Competition. By submitting your trailer to the Hobo With a Shotgun website it will be narrowed down to the top five favorite trailers from Jason Eisener and his producers. From there it will be judged...

So if you have been following Lost In Reviews for a while, you will know that we like to give out our own form of an Oscar to deserving talent. We call this award, “The Bateman”, from Christian Bale’s fantastic performance as Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. We have carefully scoured the films that have come out all year and whittled it down to the top ten best films overall from ten to one. Although, we always have to throw a bone to a few more with an Honorable Mention.
It’s hard to believe that...

This year’s nominations for the Golden Globes were pretty predictable, as expected, but there were some snubs. For television, Entourage wasn’t recognized at all for the excellent season they just had, and for foreign film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo wasn’t recognized for any of the three films which came out this year. As for nationwide films opening this year, there was no sign of the Coens and their latest film, True Grit as well as Sean Penn for supporting actor for Fair Game. It was a bit shocking...

I ventured out to Tron Night tonight. This was happening all across the country tonight. A couple weeks ago, people had the opportunity to get a free ticket to a 20 minute preview of Tron Legacy. Tonight was the night. I ended up travelling to AMC 30 Mesquite because the closer AMCs were sold out of tickets. The theatre was not that full. There were maybe 50 other people besides myself.
This was a 3D preview on an IMAX screen. The preview started with a typed out message from the director, Joseph Kosinski. Each...

After attending Halloween Horror Nights 19 last year, there was no way we were going to miss another one. We are big fans of Halloween and haunted houses in general and you just can’t ask for anything better than houses created from the geniuses at Universal Studios. Not only is the makeup on the “scharacters” movie quality but the houses are long and detailed and the scare zones in between the houses do just as good as the houses at scaring everyone. After going through the haunted houses here, no where else...

We have just returned from a trip to Universal to show you first hand what the park has in store for you. Check out the video for our take on the new addition plus what else you can not miss while visiting...

I had never been to a stand up comedy show prior to this evening. I’ve been in attendance for a few spoken word tours, of which musician/author/actor Henry Rollins comes to mind immediately, though the whole of his performance is geared toward a central story and not throwaway jokes. I have never really considered shelling out a few bucks to crawl into some mildew-laden brick dive bar that hosts a weekly comedy night. This is mostly because I fear on most any given night the line up will be populated with many awkward...

In preparation for this year’s Halloween, we’ve decided to give you an example of how you could be spending yours, in Orlando Florida. Don’t feel like dressing up? Listen up, because you have never been scared like you will be inside Universal Studios Orlando for the twentieth anniversary of Halloween Horror Nights.
The big reveal was today and we got to speak...

One of the stand out acts that we saw at this year’s SXSW is headed to Kansas City. We usually don’t do this kind of promotion for a show but The Temper Trap isn’t just any band. You may remember their hit song Sweet Disposition from the (500) Days of Summer soundtrack and if you haven’t picked up their new album Conditions you are really missing out. The thing that really makes The Temper Trap one of those stand out bands is their live show, so be sure not to miss them when they head in to town on Tuesday,...

I hadn’t even planned on attending last night’s Conan O’Brien’s Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television tour. However there I was at The Midland on a Sunday Night, in the eighth row. As a general tip, always go to the venue box office day of show, you never know what may open up.
Box Office lessons aside… I’ll come right out and admit that I never was “Team Coco” when the whole NBC/Leno/O’Brien/Tonight Show catastrophe unfolded. Though I did side with him I wasn’t...

We know you have been talking about it with your friends and fellow LOST fans, seeing the finale of LOST in a theatre with a bunch of other people who equally love LOST. What better way to go out than with people who have been following the show as religiously as you? Lost In Reviews feels the same way so that’s why we set up a theatre screening for the two and a half hour finale of LOST here in the Kansas City area. It will be totally free, but it will be first come, first served. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. We would, however,...

The humor remains in A Christmas Story even when set to song.
Retaining it’s namesakes comedy lineage A Christmas Story, The Musical! at the Kansas City Repertory Theater brings the laughs but still feels much like its central character, young and eager but needing a chance to mature to be fully appreciated. Don’t mistake me, it’s fun for the whole family and a welcome change of pace from the last several interpretations of Dickens a Christmas Carol. It’s just that this feels like its in development as...
