As the chief movie trailer chick here at Lost in Reviews, it is my duty to let you know which movie trailers in 2011 blew me away. Hopefully, they are some of your favorites as well (if you are in to this kind of thing). The following trailers are presented in no particular order. You can click on the film’s title to get the complete description of the trailer, movie poster, synopsis, and release date.
1. Snow White and the Huntsman – This film is pretty much one of my most anticipated films to see in 2012....

So if you have been following Lost In Reviews for a while, you will know that we like to give out our own form of an Oscar to deserving talent. We call this award, “The Bateman”, from Christian Bale’s fantastic performance as Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. We have carefully scoured the films that have come out all year and whittled it down to the top ten best films overall from ten to one. Although, we always have to throw a bone to a few more with an Honorable Mention. Last year we came pretty close to what ended...

From the moment I saw the first movie trailer for War Horse, it became one of my most anticipated films to see in 2011. Just from the trailer alone, I could tell that War Horse was going to be a sweeping epic film with a beautiful score behind it. It was a long wait until December, but it was worth the wait.
The story of War Horse comes from a children’s novel of the same name by Michael Morpurgo and was published in 1982. It has also become a successful play using horse puppets that started in England in 2007 and on...

When the film, Prometheus, was first announced to be going into production, it was described as an Alien prequel. Considering Ridley Scott is the director of the film and the first Alien film, it was not a stretch. Skip to article in Entertainment Weekly a month or more ago about Prometheus. The interviews with the actors and Ridley Scott only hinted at an Alien connection and the mentions about Alien were vague at best. This is the teaser for the film. It is very much a teaser as it is not very long, and you have no...

The Adventures of Tintin (Tintin) wasn’t high on my list of movies I wanted to see this holiday season. Considering Spielberg has his Oscar-mongering War Horse out at the same time, I wasn’t sure how well this film about a plucky reporter and his canine sidekick would be executed. Once again, Spielberg pulls out all the stops to bring us a visually stunning flick with all the adventure of Indiana Jones.
Tintin takes place in the 1940′s where our hero Tintin (Jamie Bell), a young sleuth-y reporter, and his...

It has been ten years since The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring was released in theatres. Today, the first trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was released online. I am an avid fan of the first trilogy. The Fellowship of the Ring is on my list of my all-time favorite films. I recently saw all three films in the extended version in the theatres again. That was an amazing experience, even though Return of the King was far too long to sit through in a theatre with a raging headache. The Hobbit...

I just posted last night about the prologue for The Dark Knight Rises and today the full trailer was released online. The film stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan. I am just going to let the trailer speak for itself.
“Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “The Dark Knight Rises” is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman...

The Dark Knight Rises prologue is being shown in front of certain IMAX showings of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Not many cities have the prologue since there were certain specifications for the IMAX screen that had to be met in order to show it. Seeing as the bulk of the writers on Lost in Reviews are Kansas City based, they did not get a chance to see it. I am based in Dallas, and it is not showing anywhere near Dallas. The nearest theatre for me is probably in Austin. Fortunately, I am visiting family...

The year is 1895 and turn of the century London is murky, rainy and CGI’d as ever. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows picks up where the first film left off. Not much has changed since the conclusion of part one. Sherlock’s always faithful partner-in-fighting-crime, Watson (Jude Law), is nearing his wedding date and Sherlock is binge-drinking formaldehyde and attempting to disappear (not metaphorically, he is working on a camouflage suit). Watson just wants to move forward in his life as a content married man,...

When going into a film I try to see it with as little knowledge as possible, I try to avoid trailers, I don’t want to know who directed it, and I like the surprises that can follow that experience. Sadly, that is not what happened when I went into Young Adult and yet I had the same experience. I had seen the trailer and knew Jason Reitman (Up in the Air, Thank You For Smoking, Juno) and Diablo Cody (Juno) had reunited for another tail of high school related antics. Lucky for me though, as it was nowhere near...

Let me start by saying I am a hopeless Brad Bird fan (Up, The Iron Giant). When I heard he would be directing a live action movie I was in. Then I found out that it was the latest movie in the long running Mission: Impossible franchise and I suddenly had a lot of doubts. This is a franchise that I felt had mostly run its course and that I believed was heading full steam ahead into “cash grab” territory. Throw in that this is a big budget action movie being released in the heart of Christmas family films, and I was downright...

Angela and I sit down to discuss David Fincher’s The Girl With Dragon Tattoo. Does the man that gave us Fight Club have what it takes to rival the original? Will Trent Reznor’s score win him another Oscar? Find out in the video review below.

Hey, remember the critically panned Valentine’s Day? That A-List ensemble failure based on various romances during Valentine’s Day? Well, the director, Garry Marshall, is back with New Year’s Eve. It has an A-List cast, and it’s based on various romances during New Year’s Eve. Do you see where I’m going here? Don’t worry, New Year’s Eve has Jon Bon Jovi with a leading role. That’ll spice it up.
It’s hard to find a good way to explain the story of New Year’s Eve,...
