After seeing this film and last year’s Winter’s Bone one thing is for sure: John Hawkes is one scary dude. Martha Marcy May Marlene is a long title for a simple storyline. Martha is a young woman who found herself in a backwoods cult of sorts and the story comes in when she is ready to leave this not so humble abode. The events that lead to her decision to leave are sprinkled throughout the film as flash backs of horror. We find Martha, or Marcy May as she is called in her cult family, running from the house in the...

This has to be one of the trailers that I was most excited to see. Snow White and the Huntsman stars Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, and Chris Hemsworth as the Snow White, the Evil Queen, and the Huntsman. This looks to be an absolutely fantastic, dark action story based on the classic fairy tale. Charlize Theron gets the most screen time in the trailer and some of the visuals of her are astounding. The mirror looks really creepy. Chris Hemsworth looks like he will be kicking some ass in the film. We see Kristen...

Instead of splurging on action this week, Cherokee Rose took more of a character-development approach, giving us another week to contemplate the different complexities of the relationships within our group of survivors. While some may see this as another slow episode for Season 2, I see it as a shining indication of what we can look forward to in the next nine episodes.
This week on The Walking Dead we are given development and movement in our characters. This is something we have all been craving as our favorite survivors...

Anonymous brings a very speculated upon issue to light, although this particular mystery will never really be put to rest. The authenticity of William Shakespeare can be questioned, but his name is still carved into history as the greatest writer to have lived. Whether or not any of these theories are true, Anonymous tells a very different story of William Shakespeare.
The story begins in modern-day, following an older man headed towards a theater. The play that night? Anonymous. So, the older gentleman turns out to be the narrator,...

I’ve always thought I had a bit of a punk rock mentality. Though I have a job and pay my bills I felt that the little bit of trouble I could stir up on the weekend could keep me in the game. That was until I saw Dragonslayer, and no not the 1981 Disney classic either. What I learned from the tag- along documentary by Tristan Patterson is that being a chaos hobbyist is nowhere near what it takes to live that punk rock lifestyle.
Dragonslayer follows the life of Pro Skater Josh “Skreech” Sandoval, but not during...

Sometimes movies need to be quiet in order to be heard. Take Shelter is such a movie, favoring eerie scenes to epic explosions and quiet revelations to glaring conclusions. This Hitchcock-esque film will have you on the edge of your seat and lost in dreams of pre-apocalyptic proportions without having to bribe you with CGI and 3D gimmicks. This is one quiet thriller you don’t want to miss.
Noah’s story wasn’t just about building an ark or loading the animals in by twos. He was firstly a man given visions...

The second season of The Walking Dead seemed to be off to a great start. Last week’s episode, Bloodletting, left all of us hungry for some serious action and movement in the plot. We sat on pins and needles all week waiting for the airing of Save the Last One until finally, finally it was here. I’m sure I am not the only one left with a sour taste in my mouth when it was all said and done.
Save the Last One zeroes in on Shane and Otis’ frantic escape from a school and Carl’s life hanging in the balance. ...

The Rum Diary would not exist to the public today had it not been for Johnny Depp rummaging through Hunter S. Thompson’s belongings in his basement and then encouraging Thompson to publish the novel. It’s from that moment until today that Depp has been working on making The Rum Diary a film. The film went through many ups and downs. There was rumor that Benicio Del Toro would direct, and that Josh Harnett would appear. Then there were stories about Scarlett Johansson and Kiera Knightley turning down the role of Chenault...

Writer and director of In Time, Andrew Niccol has a penchant for doing films that are in the science fiction genre. In Time is not an exception. The film depicts an alternate world where everything is based on how long you have left to live. It is not a wholly futuristic film, as many elements of the world are exactly like ours.
The basic premise of the film is that everyone is stops aging at 25 years old. After 25, your clock starts running. The clock is located on your lower arm, always there to remind you how much...

Season 2 of The Walking Dead has been off to a great start. It seems that this season has adopted the “Keep it Simple, Stupid” principle; this idea is especially prevalent in episode 2, Bloodletting.
Essentially, the entire episode is dedicated to saving Carl from the errant bullet he took at the end of the season premiere. Rick rushes him to the farm of a new character, Herschel, who is a kind old veterinarian. Herschel’s daughter fetches Lori from the group, and Glen is sent to find the farm by road...

Lost in Reviews was able to attend a red carpet event in Dallas, Texas for Puss in Boots. Both Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas were in attendance, and we were able to get a very quick interview with them both. Salma and Antonio voice the two main characters of the film, Kitty Softpaws and Puss in Boots.
Puss in Boots is in theatres October 28, 2011.

Alright, folks. Paranormal Activity 3 hasn’t been as subtle as the first, with ads for it on every sidebar of every website running. Seriously, I’m looking at one right now. Since the Paranormal Activity series has become so much more mainstream, will a third movie still be able to capture the low-budget terror that many enjoyed from the first two?
So, this time, Paranormal Activity 3 (PA3) takes us back to the 80′s and explains the origins of the series. The story follows Julie and Dennis (played by Lauren...

If you are looking for a dance party, but prefer Simon and Garfunkel to Rihanna I may have found the musician for you. Brett Dennen’s stylings fit into the peppy, eco-friendly blend of folk, reggae and pop that the world has learned to know, love and oftentimes shun. I’ve heard it called, “music your girlfriend listens to” and it’s not far off. If you’ve liked Jack Johnson or Jason Mraz on your Facebook then I recommend you go ahead and add Brett Dennen to the list as well. That’s...
