Season 2 of The Walking Dead has been off to a great start. It seems that this season has adopted the “Keep it Simple, Stupid” principle; this idea is especially prevalent in episode 2, Bloodletting.
Essentially, the entire episode is dedicated to saving Carl from the errant bullet he took at the end of the season premiere. Rick rushes him to the farm of a new character, Herschel, who is a kind old veterinarian. Herschel’s daughter fetches Lori from the group, and Glen is sent to find the farm by road...

Lost in Reviews was able to attend a red carpet event in Dallas, Texas for Puss in Boots. Both Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas were in attendance, and we were able to get a very quick interview with them both. Salma and Antonio voice the two main characters of the film, Kitty Softpaws and Puss in Boots.
Puss in Boots is in theatres October 28, 2011.

Alright, folks. Paranormal Activity 3 hasn’t been as subtle as the first, with ads for it on every sidebar of every website running. Seriously, I’m looking at one right now. Since the Paranormal Activity series has become so much more mainstream, will a third movie still be able to capture the low-budget terror that many enjoyed from the first two?
So, this time, Paranormal Activity 3 (PA3) takes us back to the 80′s and explains the origins of the series. The story follows Julie and Dennis (played by Lauren...

Sound Induced Visions, Vistas and Landscapes on a Psychedelic Night in Lawrence
The Black Angels are on a roll, and Lawrence and Kansas City music fans are enjoying the benefit. The band played The Bottleneck for the second time in just six months on Saturday October 15. A bold move for any band, bolder considering The Black Angels just played Kanrocksas two months ago under the sweltering sun on day two of the festival’s inaugural outing.
No matter. In both instances The Bottleneck was near if not at capacity in what...

It’s finally here, the show we’ve all been waiting for — The Walking Dead. In the fantastic 90 minute premiere episode, “What Lies Ahead,” the tone is set right from the start. How anyone can say that they don’t care for this series is completely beyond me, because now more than ever we are shown that there is something for everyone in this slice of TV viewer’s zombie-heaven.
Our opening scene shows Rick (Andrew Lincoln) on the walkie-talkie giving Morgan (Lennie James) an update...

I guarantee you this will be the most entertaining biopic you ever spend two hours on. The film is a glimpse at the life and mind of Serge Gainsbourg, birth name Lucien Ginsburg. The French-Jewish singer and painter grew up in Nazi-occupied France and wearing that yellow star had a huge part in shaping the scandalous philanderer he was. Eric Elmosnino plays Serge with an uncanny likeness to his physical looks and pulls off the attitude of the singer brilliantly. Serge never goes more than two minutes in the film without lighting...

John Carpenter’s The Thing has been scaring audiences since 1982. It’s one of those classic horror/suspense films that was executed perfectly, giving it the ability to span the stretch of time and technological advances. The idea that a prequel would be made nearly 30 years later caused many to raise their brows both in doubt and in excitement. Being both a huge fan of the ’82 version and (in my own humble opinion) a fair critic, I was one of those brow-raisers — excited to see what could be achieved...

Tuesday night, Kansas City came out in droves to support MIDI boards and future pop. Opening the night to a packed house was the humble duo Purity Ring from Canada. With Corin and Megan setting up the stage to their liking, it left very little light to see the duo, which only added to their mystery. It’s not necessarily a band that needs to be seen to be enjoyed, but they do put on a show that really sets the mood for the crowd. Corin worked the music on a single MIDI board and a set of pipes that he designed to light up...

If you don’t count The Avengers teaser at the end of the Captain America credits, this is the first trailer. The trailer gives you a taste of all of the comic superheroes that are in the film and sets up Loki from Thor to be the bad guy focus in the film. The film looks like fun so far, but it seems to be keeping Iron Man and Robert Downey, Jr. as the main focus right now. Considering both Iron Man films made a ton of cash at the box office, this is a smart move. The film also stars Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris...

When I first arrived at The Bottleneck in Lawrence, I was completely unaware of who “Portugal. The Man” was, or so I thought. I had heard friends and colleagues raving about their performances at SxSW, but I was never given the opportunity to see them. Since then they have been stuck on my “bands to listen to” list, waiting for the chance to impress. To me Portugal. The Man just became one of those bands that I didn’t know I knew. I was familiar with the songs, but the band had yet to grab my full attention. And yes,...

This is the second trailer for War Horse. The first trailer is fantastic, and the second trailer just built on the first one. This film is what I would expect from a Steven Spielberg film. It is shot beautifully with a great story. John Williams provides another epic score that reminds me of Dances With Wolves. I can guarantee you that these trailers will make my Top 10, and hopefully the film will as well. War Horse is a film adaptation of a novel of the same name by Michael Murpurgo, published in 1982. The...

Wednesday night was filled with buzz as the Portland-based band Wild Flag was set to play Kansas City for the first time and the hipster crowd was making sure not to miss it. I had never been to the Record Bar when there was a line to get in. I thought it might have been sold out from the outside, but they were in fact just taking a while to file into the bar. Opening for Wild Flag was a duo calling themselves YellowFever from Austin, no relation to the virus that can kill you. I’m sure they only named themselves as such...
