All film works best when it reflects reality to the point where we rethink the image. This is exactly what The Ides of March does to the political policy. Aptly named the film acts as a foresight into the demise of our own political system. One can only hope that the Ides will come without 23 reasons to remember them, but rather than reflect on the death of our system The Ides of March acts more as a dream and a warning of things to come.
Directed, starring, and co-written by George Clooney The Ides of March is the story of Governor...

If you’ve ever seen or played with Rock’em Sock’em Robots, Transformers, or anything from Japan, then you know that having robots fight each other is popular. Who’s to say that watching two CGI behemoths go at each other can’t be fun? Then again, I wouldn’t want to watch an hour and a half of Power Rangers prancing around in their Zords. This is where Real Steel comes in. The concept behind Real Steel is simple: smash two giant robots together. Is that really enough to thrill an audience for...

Gus Van Sant is a hard filmmaker to categorize. He’s gone through phases where he’s made darling indie classics, Oscar Bait, remakes, High School drama, and quiet meditations. His latest, Restless, isn’t another radical departure for the proud Portlander, but it does help to clarify what commonalities unite his filmography. All his films, and this is especially true of Restless, are personal but muted stories told with a real cinematic eye for the quietly powerful.

On paper 50/50 sounds outrageous, I mean how could someone make a light-hearted film about cancer? Doesn’t Director Jonathan Levine (The Wackness) know that cancer is as serious as it gets? Does he have absolutely no regard for the thousands of people diagnosed with cancer each year? How does he expect a film like this to work? Well for starters he casts Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 Days of Summer) and Seth Rogen (The Green Hornet) and allows them to do what may be the finest work of their careers. Levine also created a...

John and I sit down to discuss the new film Moneyball starring Brad Pitt, Robin Wright, Jonah Hill, and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Does the film live up to it’s literary counterpart? Find out in the video review below.
By Ryan Davis and John Coovert
SYNOPSIS: Moneyball is based on the true story of Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) – once a would-be baseball superstar who, stung by the failure to live up to expectations on the field, turned his fiercely competitive nature to management. Heading into the 2002 season, Billy faces a...

Killer Elite contains a lot of elements that make a good action flick. It has some good manly actors: Jason Statham, Robert De Niro, Clive Owen, Dominic Purcell, and Aden Young. It has guns and explosions. It has war and revenge. It has covert operations and secret circles. It has the token chick, Yvonne Strahovski, who calms the good-looking main character into becoming a better man. What the film lacks is anything that kept my interest for entire film.
The aforementioned male actors are all part of an elite force...

Sometimes it pays to stay up until two in the morning. I just visited facebook, and official facebook page for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo has posted the second trailer for the film. Some people got the chance to see an eight minute trailer for the movie before advanced screenings of Moneyball and Straw Dogs. This is not the same trailer. This trailer is still much longer than any full trailer that you see in the theatres. This trailer lasts 3 minutes and 46 seconds. If you have not read the book or are in the...

Magnet, a subsidiary of Magnolia Pictures finally put pen to paper on The Innkeepers. While I’m not sure what took so long, I’m happy to see the film will finally see the light of day. The Innkeepers is set to release on VOD platforms December 30, 2011, followed by a theatrical release in February 2012. With a DVD and Blu Ray release to follow.
Though I’m happy to see that The Innkeepers has been picked up, I’m a little worried that the window for a successful release has closed. Don’t get me wrong,...

With Drive leading at the top of my “Best Movies of 2011″ list, it was hard not to come out and scream it’s praise before the review. To hear more about why Drive is one of the best movies of 2011 so far watch the video review below. After watching the review check out our interview with the director of Drive Nicolas Winding Refn and read Sarah’s written review, but most of all go out this weekend and see Drive.
Synopsis: “Ryan Gosling stars as a Los Angeles wheelman for hire, stunt driving for movie...

Straw Dogs is another version of the 1971 film starring Dustin Hoffman and Susan George. People are referring to the 2011 version as a remake, but both films are based on the novel The Siege of Trencher’s Farm by Gordon M. Williams. I would not call the current film a remake as much as another adaptation of the novel. I have not seen the 1971 film, and the reviews I have glanced at seem to compare it too much to the 1971 film and say they are too similar. For this reviewer, the material was fresh to me, having never...

Sarah Jessica Parker’s newest film is a dramedy that has her portraying a very normal workaholic, busy mom. I Don’t Know How She Does It is based on a successful novel by Allison Pearson. The story is very relatable to just about every career woman who is also a mom in America, granted this family makes more money than the average American family.
Sarah Jessica Parker plays Kate Reddy, a banker who also is married mother of two. Her husband Richard is played by Greg Kinnear. Richard’s career has taken a backseat...

It is finally here. After the teaser of the trailer was released last week, the final full version of the second trailer The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is now online. It is a much better trailer than the first one. I would also say that it is better than all the trailers for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. My favorite trailer is from The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and this trailer is not up to par with that one.
More iconic scenes from the book are shown in this trailer. Of course, there are more wedding...

Hesher is available on DVD and Blu Ray on 9/13/11 so we thought it would be nice to revisit one of favorite interviews from SXSW. Enjoy the interview and make sure you pick up a copy of Hesher this Tuesday.
I had briefly spoken with Director, Spencer Susser and some of the cast before my screening of Hesher at SXSW. However, I loved the film so much that I just had to sit back down with Spencer and pick his brain a bit more about the direction he used and how he shot Hesher. I would urge everyone to check out Hesher this Tuesday...
