I’m not sure who called the shots behind the scenes to determine the lineup at this year’s rendition of the now annual Buzz Beach Ball but by the time I left a not very full LiveStrong Sporting Park I had determined that they got it all wrong. Why that was I’ll get to in a moment but first some background. All week long I had been referring to the show as “nineties-palooza” thanks to its stacked headline roster of bands Bush, Incubus and Jane’s Addiction. These are all acts that if you be...

John and I had a chance to check out the the latest edition in this Holloween seasons horror genre Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. The film is written and Produced by Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hell Boy) and Directed by Troy Nixey the film stars Katie Holmes (Batman Begins) and Guy Pearce (Memento) . The haunting tale of a little girl plagued by the hunger of little creatures is a little lacking at times, but is it a total bust? Find out in this video review of Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.

I will admit that I went into Our Idiot Brother a bit skeptical. I have seen one too many comedies that are just plain stupid. They are not that funny, and the trailers for the films usually have the funniest moments. You are left with a bad film that you might chuckle a few times in, but, in the end, wish you had not spent money to see.
I was pleasantly surprised with this comedy. It has a lot of heart and wisdom to it. You are presented with a character like Ned (Paul Rudd) who looks like a total hippie (he is) and...

Comedy is hard. Good comedy is even harder. As Will Arnett can attest considering he spent a few weeks last television season trying to convince America that Running Wilde was not only a good show, but a funny one as well. Which as we all know was not the case. This fall he is back and this time he brought along proven funny women Christina Applegate (Samantha Who/Married with Children) and Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids/Saturday Night Live) in the new NBC comedy Up All Night. Applegate and Arnett play new parents Reagan...

The Fright Night of 1985 has been making people shriek and laugh for 26 years. We all know that the last few years have been pretty rough for remakes, but the new Fright Night stands on it’s own and revamps the vampire genre with suspense, humor, solid scares, and lots of winks to us fanboys and girls.
Colin Farrell plays a suave and rugged Jerry Dandridge, one that fans of the original may not quite recognize. This time around he’s a blue collar guy, a night construction worker (so he says), but he still has...

First off, I am probably not the best person on the Lost in Reviews crew to review Conan the Barbarian. I vividly remember getting physically ill watching one of the original Arnold Schwarzenegger Conan movies when I was little. It was either showing on the TV or we rented the VHS tape. Based on that, I was not planning on seeing Conan the Barbarian at all. Lucky me, I am the only one that got an advanced screening of the movie to attend. In the end, the experience did not turn out to be as bad as I thought.
Conan the...

One Day is a film based on the novel of the same name by David Nicholls, published in 2009. David Nicholls also wrote the screenplay for the film. One would think that this would work in the film’s favor, but in this case, it did not.
The story of One Day involves Emma (Anne Hathaway) and Dexter (Jim Sturgess) who start out as awkward almost lovers, and over time, walk the line between lovers and friends. It is called One Day because the story is told on the same day, July 15th, from 1988 until 2006. It actually goes...

The director of Zombieland, Ruben Fleischer, returns with 30 Minutes or Less a film that comes closer to Pineapple Express than anything undead. While this time around we are missing the big B.M. that doesn’t mean you should over look 30 Minutes or Less. Yes, its crude and it may leave a few plot holes, but it does manage to be entertaining. If you’re looking for more than an excuse to kill some time you may want to look elsewhere. The film won’t have you quoting it for days or drastically make you rethink your...

“Man was created by Nature in order to explore it. As he approaches Truth he is fated to Knowledge. All the rest is bullshit.” – Dr. Sartorius (Solaris 1972)
Imagine if you learned tomorrow that not only has another planet been discovered, but it appears to be an exact replica of Earth. This Earth 2 has appeared in our solar system and appears to be moving towards us. Questions arise about what is on this Earth 2, is it inhabited, are there people like us, is there another “you” living there? Curiosity...

What if Jennifer Love Hewitt was a guy? Now imagine this guy looks exactly like the guy who played Josh in 2011′s Insidious. Ok now that you have that picture in your head put him in a doctor’s lab coat. Got it? Good. Oh wait did I mention he can also see dead people? I didn’t? Well he can. I bet you are thinking to yourself this sounds eerily like the cancelled CBS show Ghost Whisperer. Well you would be wrong, kind of. This time the Haley Joel Osment wanna be is played by Patrick Wilson...

I was one of those people who used to look at all the women reading The Help and wondered how come everyone is raving about this book. That was until I had an amazingly long business trip debacle that forced me to buy a full-price book in those airport bookstores. I went with the biggest book that I was interested in and that ended up being The Help by Kathryn Stockett. While it is a large book, it is an easy read, and I ended up really liking it. I knew The Help was coming out in movie theatres within the next few months,...

It’s not everyday that an actress can go from being a little known teen drama actress to a soap opera star to cult hero status, but yet that is exactly what Sarah Michelle Gellar did when she became known as Buffy Summers in Joss Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When Buffy ended its run on the now defunct UPN in May 2003 Gellar showed occasionally on the big screen most notably in The Grudge but has not returned to small screen until this fall in the new noir drama Ringer. Gellar stars in a dual role...

Check out our our video of all the day one excitement. Kanrocksas is over and we have all gone home, but that’s no reason to forget what happened on the first day of this wonderful festival. I just hope that this wont be the last time we think about Kanrocksas and rather just the beginning of an on going tradition. So here is to Kanrocksas with hopes that it returns for years to come, but for now enjoy this walk down memory lane.

As I walked to the Ad Astra stage to see OK GO I began to wonder if the walk would be worth it. Having never seen the band live fears that they were just another hype machine went though my head. These thoughts couldn’t have proved to be more wrong as OK GO set the bar for the rest of the bands for the day. It was almost as is if singer Damian Kulash was screaming to the other bands saying “top this!” The band did it all, everything from a hand bell performance, an acoustic moment from within the crowd, and even pulling...

Right from the beginning you could feel that day two of Kanrocksas was a bigger animal, the heat wasn’t keeping the thousands of people in attendance away from Kansas City’s biggest concerts. Day one was impressive, but nothing compared to day two. The line up was solid boasting band after band with must see potential. Running from stage to stage was a must as missing any of the bands would leave you with that “I wish I was there feeling,” but the show really didn’t start to heat up until Austin’s...
