It has been a while since I have sat down at this high-powered typing machine and things feel different; things are no longer fun and optimistic. It used to be I knew how to separate the fun and enjoyment of a Tuesday night music event from my gloomy political obsession. I used to enjoy cheap whiskey while I’d watch a band play a show, then go home and write a fun story with the remnants of that same enjoyed emotion. It was real gentleman journalist work, it was music and bizarre storytelling, but then somehow everything...

Is any one other than me strangely excited to see Jason Biggs on the small screen? I have always felt that he would be better here than on the big screen. Judy Greer on the other hand is jaw-droppingly amazing any where you put her so I am just glad we get her back. And as far as Tyler Labine and Sarah Chalke go, well all I have to say to that is…Yipee! The new CBS comedy Mad Love is about 4 New Yorkers; 2 of which are single and cynical while the other two meet and fall in love. Let the comedy hi-jinx ensue. ...

I have to admit that if it hadn’t been for fellow Lost in Review critic John Coovert, I would never have known that this webseries existed. Because the truth is that I have never been a big fan of the horror genre and if you repeat this I swear I will deny all knowledge but I am a scaredy-cat. Yes, that’s right horror movies of any type freak me the frak out. There I admitted it, are you happy now? Sheesh, can we move on already because even though I am not a fan of horror movies Zombie Roadkill is not a...

First of all let me just say that if my editor post this review I will be shocked. Second of all what shocked me the most is that although Never Say Never was nothing more than an expensive rendition of VHI’s Behind the Music I did not want to claw my eyes out by the end of it. I fully admit that I too have done my fair share of Bieber bashing and I also admit that I was unfairly doing so. Because you see aside from a few verses here and there I had never actually heard one of his songs. The phrase “never...

Brotherhood follows a fraternity hazing incident gone horribly wrong and the aftermath it causes. I was skeptical about the movie going in because it was about a fraternity. What kind of excitement can come from a movie about dumb frat boys? Quite a lot as far as Brotherhood is concerned. The movie starts out right away with the hazing incident. The pledges of Sigma Zeta Chi being driven around in a van with a couple of the brothers. They are asked to go into a convenience store with a ski mask on and a gun and...

Sometimes, a group of people and their hormones just come together to make a great night. That night was Afentra’s VD Party from 96.5 The Buzz. The show would host The Limousines, AWOLNATION and Fitz and the Tantrums for free at the Midland in Kansas City. The night started with hoards of people slowly flowing through the small openings in the building eagerly grabbing their beverage of choice. They began to find a spot to call their own and start mingling. Girls came in their highest heels and the men came looking as unwashed...

I had a chance to sit down with with Aaron Bruno from AWOLNATION before his show at The AMC Midland in Kansas City Mo on February 11th. We talk about everything from the cold to the possibilities of a AWOLNATION/Innerpartysystem mash up at this year’s SXSW. I hope you enjoy the interview. For more information on AWOLNATION click here. AWOLNATION’s debut album is called Back From Earth. The full album will be available on March 15.

Some of you may know this new comedy created by Adir Miler and adapted for American television by Bob Fisher as Mixed Signals. Frankly both titles suck but hey they never asked my opinion. Something which I strongly urge them to reconsider the next time they are faced with a creative decision. Traffic Light is about 3 buddies Mike, Adam, and Ethan all in different stages of their romantic lives.
Mike (David Denman) is the red light of the group or in this case the married guy with a new son who is so desperate for some...

In 1992 I was an awkward and uncultured sixth-grader growing up in a dying farming community in South East Kansas. I can remember considering Adam Sandler to be a genius at that time. However, a lot has changed since then. For starters I’m no longer 11. However, Dennis Dugan, who recently directed Just Go With It seems to be hell bent on aiming towards my 11 year old intelligence. He’s even been quoted as saying “Audiences that go to my movies don’t want a message. They don’t want my soul exposed...

The X-Men: First Class trailer is upon us, and I am really excited. Although I never read the comics or watched the cartoon, I have been in love with the movies since I saw the first X-Men movie. I will concede that the last X-Men movie was weak, but I was one of the few that liked Wolverine. Considering Bryan Singer came up with the story for First Class and Matthew Vaughn is directing, I am hoping this turns out to be a really good movie.
The great cast includes James McAvoy (Professor Charles Xavier), Michael Fassbender...

Hobo With a Shotgun will be a part of this year’s SXSW Midnighters selection. As of now, it is scheduled to play March 15, and 16. This comes as no surprise as the film’s trailer was a part of the Grindhouse Trailers Competition in 2007. With the addition of Hobo With a Shotgun this year’s SXSW is sounding stronger and stronger everyday. See what other films are playing at SXSW here. As always, keep checking back with lostinreviews.com for all things SXSW.

The Chicago Code (aka Ride-Along) is a new drama created by Shawn Ryan (The Shield) starring Jason Clarke (Brotherhood), Matt Lauria (Friday Night Lights), Jennifer Beals (The L Word), Delroy Lindo (Romeo Must Die), Todd Williams (In Plain Sight), and Billy Lush (Generation Kill). TCC films in and around the city of Chicago allowing for a more authentic feel to the show. When it comes to Must See TV I rarely, if ever, get amped up over a cop drama. It simply does not happen. Now this doesn’t mean I don’t...

Out of all the “Friends” to come back to the small screen Matthew Perry is by far my favorite friend. Oh sure I have enjoyed watching Courtney and her new friends drink gallons of wine every Wednesday night on Cougar Town and yes, I have discovered that I enjoy watching Matt LeBlanc play Matt LeBlanc in Episodes, but let’s face it, they are no Chandler Bing, no wait I meant to say they are no Ben Donovan. Oh who cares he’s back and I for one am thrilled about it.
It might be fair to say that Mr....

The Eagle is set in the second century when Rome occupied much of Britain. Not everyone backed down to the Romans. Many tribes in northern Britain refused to be under Roman rule and ruthlessly attacked Roman armies. This led to Rome essentially giving up on northern Britain and building Hadrian’s Wall, a Great Wall of China-esque wall that protected the south from north. Before the wall was built, the Ninth Legion of Rome ventured into northern Britain and never came back. Along with their disappearance, their...
