Angela and I sit down to discuss David Fincher’s The Girl With Dragon Tattoo. Does the man that gave us Fight Club have what it takes to rival the original? Will Trent Reznor’s score win him another Oscar? Find out in the video review below.

I find that year in, year out I have a love/hate relationship with the now PC-dubbed “Holidays.” As a child of the eighties growing up in what can best be described as an agnostic household, we celebrated “Christmas” as it’s what everyone else did in the month of December, not because it was the birth of Jesus Christ. As a child, I relished sugar cookies and the giant feast that came on December 25th as my waistline shows to this day. Some thirty years into my life, that same family and house...

Hey, remember the critically panned Valentine’s Day? That A-List ensemble failure based on various romances during Valentine’s Day? Well, the director, Garry Marshall, is back with New Year’s Eve. It has an A-List cast, and it’s based on various romances during New Year’s Eve. Do you see where I’m going here? Don’t worry, New Year’s Eve has Jon Bon Jovi with a leading role. That’ll spice it up.
It’s hard to find a good way to explain the story of New Year’s Eve,...

While Florence and The Machine tore down the roof on night one it wasn’t long before night two was under way. This night would be more of the typical fare that 965 The Buzz offers with it wide array of concerts as they yet again brought in a 90′s alt icon in 311. While I’ve heard and taken part in my fair share of complaining about The Buzz’s choices for marquee top billing, it’s hard to argue when it comes to filling up an auditorium the size of the Midland. Now with two sold out shows under...

The Midland was an amazing center of gravity last night as the sold out The Night the Buzz Stole Xmas show filled the auditorium with hordes of ladies with their girlfriends in toe and boyfriends (most likely dragged along). The atmosphere started off reposed and gradually grew to a state of frenzied ecstasy when Florence took the stage. She opened with “Only If For A Night” the opening track off her sophomore album Ceremonials. The song was on target as most have never spent an evening with Florence Welch and might...

A few months ago, there was an eight minute sizzle reel aka really long trailer for David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo that ran before some advanced screenings for films. That eight minute trailer was cut down to make the last full trailer, which is long in and of itself at over three minutes. The full eight minute trailer was released today along with a preview of the score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. You can head to iTunes to preview the tracks and pre-order the score.
The trailer itself is pretty...

There has been some negative press on other sites about John Carter. I do not get the reason for it because to me, it looks like a very interesting story and has some great visuals. The cast is not too shabby either. I thought the first trailer was pretty awesome. Although the story is not really explained, I thought everything in the trailer looked fantastic and made me excited to see the film. The second trailer was released today, first on Good Morning America, and now online at IGN. I waited for it to pop up online...

Wow. That’s the only thing that could come to mind at the end of this week’s mid-season finale, Pretty Much Dead Already Dead (PMDA). Wow. What began as a slow second season quickly led up to an epic stopping point for the show, giving us 2+ months to wait anxiously for its return.
Episodes 2-6 were slow. Excruciatingly so. We were given rehashed conversations week after week and some fairly slow character developments and plot movements to boot. The worst part (or best part) was that we were given a false...

Taxi Driver and Goodfellas had one big thing in common – lovably feisty and gritty young characters. Even though neither of those films were kids movies, the audience was drawn to those little characters because of their story and their drive. Hugo, while being a “kid’s” movie, unfortunately lacks the ability to connect its characters to the audience. Was it just the script that lacked personality, or should Scorsese just stick to child characters who yield adult themes?
Hugo is a young boy who...

I am sure that I had the same thoughts as many other people when I heard a film was being made about Marilyn Monroe. She is such an icon that I never thought any actress today could in any way pull off a good portrayal of her. Then I thought maybe the film would be a certain actress’ take on Marilyn, not necessarily a true portrayal of her. Michelle Williams was eventually cast as Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn. I remained skeptical. My opinion of the film changed for the better within a matter of minutes...

Bristol-based Aardman Animation has become famous for bringing us classics like the Wallace & Gromit films and Chicken Run. Ditching the stop-motion animations for CGI and 3D technology, Aardman presents Arthur Christmas, an inventive story explaining the answers to all those questions kids have about Santa. While it’s cute and fun, it doesn’t have the charm of their previous films and leaves much to be desired out of a fairly limited plot.
In this British tale, Santa has had to stay on top of the latest technologies...
