Secrets don’t make friends, but the truth is rarely pure and never simple. This week on The Walking Dead old secrets are brought forward, new secrets are burrowed away, confessions run rampant, and we get plenty of food for thought. Oh, and then there’s Shane and Andrea (shudder). Secrets was the first episode in a while that felt pretty genuine and ‘back to it’s roots’. There was some great zombie action, but that was an extremely small portion of what brought back that warm, fuzzy feeling...

It was hard not to notice how different the Record Bar felt on Tuesday night. Playing host to to seasoned Power Poppers Mates of State, the Westport Bar’s crowd was notably younger, filled girls in their late teens. A venue that typically hosts a mix of hipsters and quiet guys in their twenties, The Record Bar felt like a different place entirely, with the bright houselights on and a large, potentially sold-out crowd full of friendly, enthusiastic conversation between sets.
But then again, Mates of State aren’t your...

Angela and I sit down to discuss Like Crazy starring Anton Yelchin, Felicity Jones, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlie Bewley, Alex Kingston, Oliver Muirhead, Chris Messina, Finola Hughes, Ben York Jones, & Jamie Thomas King. It has been about a year and a half since The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was in theatres. It was a long time to wait for the fourth movie when The Twilight Saga: New Moon and Eclipse were only about six months apart in release. The anticipation for the next film had died down, only to be revived immediately when the first and second trailers for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 arrived. I managed to get just a little giddy sitting in the movie theatre, just minutes from the start of the film. Then the film began...

I was beyond excited to have snagged a red carpet spot for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 Fan Event for Dallas, Texas. I have always been a devout Twihard since I read the books. Kansas City did not have many opportunities to do anything interview-wise for any of the Twilight Saga films. I think I bothered the PR rep here enough that she kindly let me have a spot for this event. It was like some kind dream come true (for me).
We were able to interview Jackson Rathbone (Jasper), Nikki Reed (Rosalie), Ashley...

I know a lot of people that were very excited to see the trailer for The Hunger Games that debuted today. The teaser was a let down, and really did not show much except for Jennifer Lawrence running through the woods. I guess it was better than nothing. I watched the full trailer today with a friend who read the books. She said that the trailer makes the film look true to books. I have yet to read the books so I can’t comment on what is actually happening in the trailer. It does look damn good. I will be reading...

Chupacabras. Are they those mythical creatures that terrorize you and live in your peripheral vision, or are they just mangy, parasite-ridden coyotes scampering off to find a place to lie down and die? This week’s episode of The Walking Dead is aptly named for more reasons than one, giving us a mixed bag of excitement, terror, boredom, and intrigue.
Again, The Walking Dead writers have staved off the big moments and revelations the fans have been crying for since Bloodletting. Let me say again, I understand that...

In a way, going to see The Airborne Toxic Event on Friday night was more like going to see old friends. The band had been many things to me, but most of all they represented the first time we had seriously decided to cover music at Lost in Reviews. Not only were they the first band we had covered from a non-fan perspective, front man Mikel Jollett was my first interview. Because of all these things I’ve always seen the band in a different perspective, they have always been a band I enjoyed and I really liked their first...

Yellow Ostrich, Delicate Steve, and Ra Ra Riot at the Granada in Dallas, Texas on November 3, 2011.
This was my first time at the Granada in Dallas. I quite liked it. It is a small venue but there are several levels that allow everyone a good view of the stage. There is no barrier in front of the stage, so people who wish to be right up next to the bands can do so. It is a much better venue than the Palladium, although the Granada could not accommodate the numbers that the Palladium could.
All three of the bands that...

Since 2008′s Gran Torino, Clint Eastwood has struggled to bring award worthy films to the screen. 2009′s Invictus was missing that bit of movie magic to make it great and Hereafter was so lost in a convoluted message that it never came up for air. Even after those aforementioned films I still had the hope of greatness when I walked into J. Edgar. Eastwood had swapped Damon for DiCaprio and found a story that screamed Oscar throughout its 137 minute run time. The only thing I felt was holding the film back was its...

“A tale of death, a tale of life”
The last time I saw a Werner Herzog documentary, it was at the South by Southwest Film Festival. I had the pleasure of seeing Cave of Forgotten Dreams which was meant to be seen in 3D. It was absolutely stunning film about a cave that none of us will ever see in our lives. While Herzog inserted some eccentricities into the film, it was a marvel to see.
Into the Abyss is Herzog’s latest documentary. I did not hear of it until recently, and the title does not give away what the subject...

After seeing this film and last year’s Winter’s Bone one thing is for sure: John Hawkes is one scary dude. Martha Marcy May Marlene is a long title for a simple storyline. Martha is a young woman who found herself in a backwoods cult of sorts and the story comes in when she is ready to leave this not so humble abode. The events that lead to her decision to leave are sprinkled throughout the film as flash backs of horror. We find Martha, or Marcy May as she is called in her cult family, running from the house in the...

This has to be one of the trailers that I was most excited to see. Snow White and the Huntsman stars Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, and Chris Hemsworth as the Snow White, the Evil Queen, and the Huntsman. This looks to be an absolutely fantastic, dark action story based on the classic fairy tale. Charlize Theron gets the most screen time in the trailer and some of the visuals of her are astounding. The mirror looks really creepy. Chris Hemsworth looks like he will be kicking some ass in the film. We see Kristen...

Instead of splurging on action this week, Cherokee Rose took more of a character-development approach, giving us another week to contemplate the different complexities of the relationships within our group of survivors. While some may see this as another slow episode for Season 2, I see it as a shining indication of what we can look forward to in the next nine episodes.
This week on The Walking Dead we are given development and movement in our characters. This is something we have all been craving as our favorite survivors...

Anonymous brings a very speculated upon issue to light, although this particular mystery will never really be put to rest. The authenticity of William Shakespeare can be questioned, but his name is still carved into history as the greatest writer to have lived. Whether or not any of these theories are true, Anonymous tells a very different story of William Shakespeare.
The story begins in modern-day, following an older man headed towards a theater. The play that night? Anonymous. So, the older gentleman turns out to be the narrator,...
