Who would have guessed that my favorite memory from our trip to California would not have been the beach? Who could have possibly guessed that the beach would have come in second to a restaurant serving chicken and waffles? Not me, that’s for sure. Now that I’ve been to Roscoe’s House of Chicken’n Waffles, I can’t help but pray that we get something like this out here in KC!
OK, I know what you’re thinking. Fried chicken…syrupy waffles….sounds gross, right? Let me...

Rachael and I had an opportunity to visit one of the biggest names in amusement parks while in LA for E3 2010. We spent a day out at the park and tried to explore all of their feature attractions, so I’m going to break it down into sections. Enjoy this buffet-style review!
Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride
The line for this kind of sucked at first, being mostly exposed to the sun. Fortunately, you’re only outside for the first few minutes of waiting until you reach the mouth of the “temple.” This leads...

The Days Inn is a completely average hotel amongst most standards. However, when you are staying in Austin, Texas for the South by Southwest Festival, it becomes a luxury hotel, when you can’t possibly afford to spend $300 a night to stay at a bigger name brand hotel. I was going to be staying here for about 9 nights, so it had to meet a few expectations: are the beds comfy, are the rooms quiet and does the air conditioning work well?
Well, I got all that and more. In fact, I was sharing the room with two other people and...

Going to Chicago at the end of the summer is a big difference than the beginning. I ventured up this weekend to see the last NIN show (for me) for awhile. I had been up there in May, which was nice sunny weather similar to what we are experiencing now. They don’t call it the Windy City for nothing. I was wearing long sleeves and a light jacket the entire time this time around. …

As I continue following the Nine Inch Nails Wave Goodbye tour, weekend two brought me to Chicago for two shows. Since Ryan and Angela were also attending this weekend’s shows, I chose a hotel close to theirs since we were sharing a car. They were staying at the Hyatt Regency O’hare, which is where they flew in. I chose the Aloft Hotel a “vision”of W hotels a few blocks away.
After weekend one, in New York where I stayed in a run of the mill, cookie cutter like, however clean Holiday Inn, the Aloft was...

Well, Las Vegas is a town that I never thought I would enjoy visiting, because I don’t really gamble at all. Much to my surprise, there is so much to do in this small town, that I left with a laundry list of things I wanted to do, and never got around to doing. …

I had a few days to kill and decided to spend them in Chicago doing very touristy things. I checked into the Central Loop Hotel on W. Adams also known as Club Quarters elsewhere. The hotel is located in the business district and was extremely quiet at night. The employees that I encountered were all very cordial and helpful. When getting ready to lay down, I realized that I had forgotten my toothpaste and I called down and in a few minutes, someone ran some up to me.
The room was cozy, I think that’s a good word. …

I decided to take a well deserved and long overdue vacation to Chicago. So I went online to find the perfect place to rest my head. Being a 25 year old recent divorcée, I needed somewhere that was quiet but close to hot spots – somewhere that I could really treat myself for six days. I spent a long night scouring the Internet for accommodations and one website finally caught my eye. …

I was driving into St. Louis for a concert and needed somewhere close to stay for the night. I booked my hotel online and drove straight to it when we arrived in St. Louis. It was not hard to find. It was in a business district, so there was lots of concrete, but no where to park. In fact, as soon as I arrived, I was told that I had to pay extra just to park across the street!
I picked this hotel, not knowing the area, but knowing that I wanted to walk to my concert and not have to pay for parking there. According to my price...
