Ex Machina
Writer: Brian K. Vaughan
Artist: Tony Harris
This is hands down, one of the finest comics series you will ever read. “Ex Machina” is Latin for “From the machine”. This is the story of Mitchell Hundred, who unexplainedly has some alien glyph of some sort of intelligent nanomatter blow up in his face while inspecting The Brooklyn Bridge. Now he gains a super power to control and communicate with machines. If it has moving parts he can manipulate it and hear it bitch while he does. You would think...

Think for yourself, question authority… so the show began at the sold out packed to the rafters Sprint Center on Friday night in Kansas City. The energy level went through the roof as the Los Angeles-based progressive metal band opened with a small video segment of that phrase being repeated as the band came to the stage. They ripped into the thirteen minute “Third Eye” from their 1996 release Ænima. On an evening when the setlist would feature tracks primarily from that era forward.
Case in point “Third...

The teaser trailer for The Social Network came online today from Sony Pictures. It is kind of like The Dark Knight teaser, just voices with an ending image. The Social Network is based on the rise of the Facebook phenomenon. David Fincher directs the film with Jesse Eisenberg playing Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook. Justin Timberlake, Andrew Garfield, Rashida Jones, and Max Minghella also star. The Social Network is in theatres October 1, 2010.
P.S. David Fincher is helming the American The Girl with the Dragon...

There were some good parts, some bad parts and some ugly parts to Grown Ups, but first a synopsis. Grown Ups is the typical summer family comedy that you would expect from Blockbuster season, only this time it’s Adam Sandler and he’s all grown up, or is he? Aside from the fact that he is now a father and husband in Grown Ups, not much has changed from his other ‘Happy Madison’ days. Well, he did drop that stupid lisp he used to use in everything.
Adam Sandler plays Lenny Feder, and he and his childhood...

Solitary Man is a character comedy/drama that follows Ben Kalmen (the outstanding Michael Douglas) who was a one time Forbes magazine cover boy. A respectable, well as respectable as they get, car dealership owner. Ben’s reckless behavior and selfishness has seen him plummet from grace, both professionally and with his family. He is a philander chasing after and typically bedding women half his age. He is jobless, his notorious reputation seems to precede him where ever he goes. Yet he has a charm and charisma that...

What ever preconceived notions you have about Little House on the Prairie The Musical are comfortably accurate. That is to say if the title is something that catches your interest, then this is probably for you. If it is not, well it may be best to sit out the opening show of Starlight’s sixtieth season.
This is probably the safest show I have seen on a stage in the past year. That is to say those in the audience that enjoyed it seemed to really have a good time. And going back to my opening I would stand by my statement....

The first trailer for The Green Hornet arrived yesterday. It’s our first chance to see how Seth Rogen can do as a comic book crime-fighting character. I was pretty miffed as to why Rogen was chosen (so was alot of the comic book fan base). He did lose weight for the role. From this trailer, there is definitely humor in the movie, action, cool cars, and neat guns. I think Jay Chou (Kato) will be best part of the movie. Chou has not been in any big American movies, so this might be his break out role. Cameron Diaz,...

In my last big Lost in Previews post (Comedies?), I left out a couple of movies that are worth watching. They both bring the laughs.
Morning Glory is about Becky Fuller’s job as a producer for a failing morning show called Daybreak (ala The Today Show). Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton, Patrick Wilson, Jeff Goldblum, Pattie D’Arbanville, and Ty Burrell all star in this comedy which honestly looks really good. J.J. Abrams is one of the producers and you may have noticed the Bad Robot production company...

Down on Broadway tucked in to a tiny room, a wonderful man makes wonderful food he simply loves to cook. C. Withers is his name, outrageously good smoked food is his game. The man has no trepidation about putting something in his smoker: prime rib, steaks, cabbage, green beans, strawberry cake, cornbread, baked beans. All of these are regulars for his guests. It is really most appropriate to consider yourself a guest in his world rather than his customer. The whole experience is more down home than any Southerner could...
